Berial the Conqueror of the Fire Hell

From Devil May Cry Wiki

(Redirected from Berial)
"Futile pest, you will suffer the wrath of Berial! I, the conqueror of the Fire Hell!"
― Berial to Nero, Devil May Cry 4

Berial is a boss character who appears in Devil May Cry 4. In appearance, he looks like a giant centaur with a lion-like, scaly lower body, a humanoid upper body with a pair of wings made of fire (although he never flies with them so it's not certain if they're wings or if it's just the way his flames are), and a lion-like face topped with bull-horns, all covered in flames. He uses a huge flaming zweihander-like sword that is easily about three-times Nero's height. Because of size of his sword, he uses slow, but strong and wide range attacks.

Berial attacks Nero in the Ferrum Hills, a deserted mining camp, which is destroyed in the ensuing battle. He claims to have visited the human world two-thousand years ago during the time of Sparda, and never met any human like Nero except for "him" (who may be Sparda). After his defeat, he retreats from Nero to the demonic realm, but later returns to the Human World. Next time he is seen looking at the giant silhuette of The Savior in the sky, commenting that he finds human posing himself as God ridiculous. Suddenly, he notices Dante, cheekily sitting on his tail, who agrees with him. After Berial gets rid of him, he claims that he will avenge his demonic compatriots, slain by Dante. Though he is defeated again, he refuses to retreat again, and attempts a kamikaze attack which Dante repels. After Berial is defeated, Dante takes the Lucifer Devil Arm and destroys the Hell Gate, from which Berial had emerged from.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Devil May Cry 4 artbook, Devil's Material Collection displays several concept sketches of Berial, one of which he was depicted as a bipedal creature and another where he is simply a creature compromised of hellfire inhabiting an armor where he can detach and launch his head as an attack.
