I'm pretty sure the ending was trying to set up a sequel. And while I get the die-hard fans weren't exactly keen on the reboot, had it been a thing though, what do you suppose the plot and stuff would've been like?
I have a sneaking suspicion that they recycled at least some of the plot they were probably going and used it in DMC 5. We have demons running amok in the human world, destroying the city and slowly this infection is spreading everywhere. Demons running amok in the human world is basically how the reboot ended so I think maybe getting the strength together to fight off Vergil who's basically responsible for the demons, and having him be the final boss was what they had planned for a sequel of the reboot.
I like the idea cause basically what I suspect they did was still create DMC: Devil May Cry 2 only they tricked the stans into accepting it by just changing a few characters around and stuff.

We all got a opinion about DmC Devil may cry some love some hate and some stand in between but i keep wondering what would have happend if the game turned out diferent and by different i mean good so i made some research seeing what was the downsides but also the upsides and came up with some conclusions of what could have been done about the game (This is just someone personal opinion not a profetional or a pro player just a fan of the series)
Obs: any text errors forgive me im not a writer or fluent in english
Dante
We all got problems with the new look of dante and not just the look his personality as well
The biggest problem with his look was his hair not really the haircut but the color of his hair being black rather than white like in the original which was done with the solo purpose of having a explanation with why his hair was white which was a stupid and dumb decision
The white hair is a signature look of the character removing it is like taking wolverine claws off
But what most people had a problem with it was his personality
He looked like the definition of cool of a 13 years old in general
but in what way could that be fixed? well he made a cameo in the game playstation all star and in the cutscenes he show a more serius and focused personality if we played as that dante we could have liked him better in DmC https://youtu.be/1HJc_iLprF4
Story
The consepts and ideas were great but they were executed with a lack of originality, lots of plot holes and cringy dialogues
But could the story be bette executed?
1: Remove the order: There was absolutely no point in them in the first place
2: Change kat backstory: Rather than have vergil rescuing her make it so that dante was the one that did it and she helps him out of gratidute and some type of emotional depency towards him
3: Remove vergil: Vergil was the worst character in the game he went from massive badass and likeable villain to a manipualtive pussy that convince dante to do all his work for him if you gonna mess a character so much don´t put him in the game insted have him mentioned
i would have made dante mention to kat that he erased vergil memories so he dosen´t know about the demons or their parents death
4: Use the original but story of sparda and eva: i don´t even have to say why do i?
5: Explore more of dante angel side: it was a good idea but poorly executed maybe make it so that dante embraces his angel power rather than his devil ones
6: Changing the subliminal messages for more creative ones: i mean bob barbas was good but the soda one was kinda of dull
7: Make it mundus true form demoniac: seriouly he looked like the thing from fantastic four in the original he was a god like creature this is pathetic
8: More badass moments for dante: i don´t know about you guys but the original dante had a lot of over the top moments but they were fun to watch the new one are dull and lame for most part
9: Less plot holes
10: A Better ending (Extra: Change that wig joke from "Not in a million years" to "Maybe next time"
Gameplay
Now don´t get me wrong the gameplay was the upside of this game but the problem was that they changed the challenged based combat to a casual based one meaning
the game is easy there is not much challenge the enemys are easy to beat and the bosses aren´t very challenge
Devil may cry is a game that you have to pratice to get good at it and they removed on this one that´s my only problem with the gameplay for me
Those were my opinions and suggestions i know a lot of them sound stupid but it´s just my opinion im a huge fan of the devil may cry series and i hope it didn´t die because of DmC

Honestly, I get sick of people not wanting to listen when I have a good argument on why DmC is underrated. I'm not at all calling it the best, but this is something that the haters should take note of. I'm going to cover certain topics of the game one-by-one, covering things that got the most hate, things that didn't get too much hate but are worth going over, and things that probably deserved more hate. I will be adding TL;DR's for any of the sections that get to be long. If you have something to add, please do so. Maybe I'll understand the hate a bit better and can decide if I want to formulate a better argument or want change sides for any of these.
Dante: He aesthetically looks different. Okay, that's not a big deal in a reboot as long as they keep the core character the same, which for the most part they did (I have one minor issue I'll go over later). Basically, this'll be a comparison of both Dantes to notice the similarities and differences, and see which differences are justified. First, I'll look at their pasts. Old Dante was there the day his mother was killed by Demons and was separated from his brother. Alright, that sucks, but that's not "watch your mother get her heart ripped out and be abused by Demons in an orphanage" level of suckiness. Not saying that Old Dante didn't have a traumatic past, but New Dante had a more traumatic past. Alright. That just gives New Dante justification for hating Demons, among other things. Old Dante in DMC 3 (since this is the Dante that New Dante based on) was quite cocky, had some witty lines, and was a total trickster. New Dante was a bit more cocky (to a point bordering on douche for some), also had some witty lines (overshadowed by the fuck you battle in the demo), and was also a total trickster. New Dante did sometimes appear to be a douche, like hitting on Kat too much or hitting the can out of the guy's hand in one scene. Although once he heard Kat's story, he stopped. With the can he knocked on the ground, he knew how bad the stuff was, and a real douche wouldn't care for a human drinking poison. Now people might judge his lifestyle at the beginning to be a sign of douchiness, but if you remember the moments when he is more sincere about his past and have a basic understanding of psychology, you'll know that there is a good reason for this. If you play through the whole story and pay close enough attention to Dante, you can also see that he develops more to actually care for humans, whereas before he was mostly indifferent to humans (only because he didn't exactly have the time to care for or have a connection to them). In DMC 3, you can see Dante always having that sense of justice and care for humans, but becoming wiser and less arrogant throughout the game. However, Dante already had a care for humans due to having a human mother and meeting Enzo, so he didn't need the development. Speaking of Dante's mother, that's the one complaint I have about New Dante is that his mother being an Angel takes away one of the themes of the original series; humans can be stronger than Demons. This is a fault with the story though, and not with Dante himself, but it's still worth noting.
Dante TL;DR: New Dante is the same as Old Dante at the core, with just a different background and aesthetic, causing the character to be edgier, but within reason. (Edginess is okay if there is good justification for it.)
Difficulty: Yeah, it is easier, but there are two reasons for this: 1. The combat flows better, and better flow makes things easier for the player, so honestly this is a good reason for the series to be easier. 2. Do you see how whiny people can get about games being difficult? To be honest, this is a mixture of a gaming community problem (some people wanting easy games, some wanting hard games) and a marketing problem (the main people trying this game were DMC fans), and is forgivable, but shame-worthy.
Vergil: Vergil's betrayal was kinda predictable if you think about it, given what we knew about him from before and the actions we've seen him take. You can guess that he doesn't have much care for humans in the first place, and honestly I kinda wish they could have done things differently with him. However, I guess his ego is just the sad effect of him being raised by rich people probably telling him he's so great and all that shit. Although when he goes through the events of Vergil's Downfall, he does develop into a different character, who starts to accept that in the end he is power hungry. There are some good things to note about Vergil that they did differently though. He does truly care for his brother (before the DLC) and also feels betrayed due when Dante refuses to rule with him (which is also a sign of his ego, but is still noteworthy). He also seemed to emphasize the calm and collectedness traits of Vergil, then the power loving traits toward the end. If DmC got a sequel, I could probably defend him better, but right now he doesn't deserve much.
Vergil TL;DR: He's somewhere in the middle as a good or bad character.
That Whole "Conspiracy Theory" Kinda Story: Yeah. I'm not defending this much. It's honestly kinda cliche and not something that I find worthy of defending. Although given that the game was a reboot, I guess it's allowed to try other things, and it honestly didn't do a horrible job (although it wasn't a good job either). I'm not saying that the story itself is bad, but this KIND of story is bad.
Mundus: Mundus is not really something I'm going to say is good or bad here. As part of the above section, he at least fits well and makes that kind of story not horrible. In DMC he's honestly a bit underdeveloped as an antagonist, but that was in 2001 so it's whatever. He does still act cliche at times though, bringing Mundus closer to a meh.
Bosses: Yeah. No defending this. Half the bosses seemed to have the same strategy.
Vergil's Downfall: Let's be honest; this doesn't deserve much either. It was a lazy cash grab for the most part. The cutscenes were just drawings, the boss was just Vergil with a little extra, they could have actually given Yamato different forms, and I'm certain they re-used environments (some of which make sense to use though). The one good thing is that this showed us what did happen to Vergil after the ending and helps set up for a sequel.

As an avid Devil May Cry fan and after playing DMC Devil May Cry, I'll admit, the game was well developed, I loved the storyline, the characters were well developed, still has that touch of the old Devil May Cry games and the new Dante is a badass and kinda sexy too. But anyways, this is something I've always thought, what if DMC Devil May Cry is a prequel to the classic Devil May Cry games? When you look at it, Dante began with black hair yet Vergil had white hair, this could mean that during that time, Dante was a bit of a late bloomer with unlocking his full demon potential yet Vergil can. This could be because of when Vergil mentioned about a car crash and one of the twins suffered amnesia; it was Dante. Because of him having amnesia, he didn't have much memories of his childhood until he went into Limbo in the old mansion that was once Dante and Vergil's home. Also, I believe that with Vergil's Downfall, it shows how Vergil became the villian that he is well known in the Devil May Cry franchise which is to say the least an eye opener. But yea, that's what I believe it is to be, DMC Devil May Cry is connected to the classic versions of the games. What do you think?

So I'm not getting the level completion/boss bonus red orbs at the end of a level. Is this a glitch? Is there any way around this or to fix it? Leveling just takes way too long otherwise.

Ok so this is just a random theory that's probably way off but here's how it goes.
WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DmC, VDF, DMC3
Once Vergil is killed by dante and goes to hell (VDF story) he kills hollow Dante and takes his amulet. This kills real Dante and scientists are trying to bring him back to life (Because he's nephillim) meanwhile Vergil is trying to combine the amulets to unleash spardas true power. Vergils plan goes wrong and he forgets who he is. Same thing happens to dante when he is brought back to life by his parents. (because he's the favorite) They figure out the truth of their father but the truth of their mother is hidden to protect them being as big of a target as thet were before. Their mother is told to be a human in a fake story Dante and Vergil are told. Dante trys to protect the world from demons by opening a bussiness called Devil May Cry. While Vergil on the other hand is trying to unleash Sparda's Power.
Shut up i know im wrong.

unlike some of the trivial stuff hat stupid fans whine about in other games like content thats completely optional or games fans ask for like a online elder scrolls or shadow the hedehog, This game might just ruin devil may cry if hey dont nip in the butt. It sucks! Dante went from a smooth talking devil hunter to a snotty brat that thinks having an eff you contest with a demon is cool, or what abou the "hey you, what the f*ck iswrong with you" song!? Vergil also went from being a piwer whore, to racist, hypocritical self centered powerwhore who thinks everything is not his faulf! And look at what they did to aprda and mundus! But in the end, some of this is my opinion. But astk any devil may cry fan and they will give the same complaints.
