Karnival is a biplane in Viewtiful Joe. It resembles an extremely battered red Grumman J2F Duck, an amphibious aircraft used by the U.S. armed services between the 1930s and 40s as a utility and sea rescue craft.
In Dante's missions in the PS2 version of Viewtiful Joe the plane replaces Joe's rocket Six Machine in cutscenes and gameplay. It first appears after the player defeats the boss character Hulk Davison when Dante takes to the sky in search of the Jadow base. The game then becomes a side-scrolling shooter in which the plane can fire bullets, perform spins or cartwheels, and utilize Dante's VFX powers to defeat attacking Jadow.
It later appears in Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble, where Dante lends it to Captain Blue in one scene.
Devil May CryEdit
Although unnamed at this time, it debuts in Mission 1 of Devil May Cry, where it is suspended along with a number of marionettes from the ceiling of a hangar adjoining the entry hall of the castle. It remains there until the very end of the game when, after Mundus traps Dante and Trish in a small room, the vehicle breaks through the ceiling and provides the heroes a means of escape from Mallet Island.
