Summoned Swords

From Devil May Cry Wiki

Summoned Swords are magically generated blades resembling the Force Edge, appearing in Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 3, and Devil May Cry 4.[1] They are wielded by Vergil during Devil May Cry 3, and they reappear during the final battle with his Nelo Angelo form during Devil May Cry.[2][3] In Devil May Cry 4, Nero gains the ability to use Summoned Swords after obtaining the Yamato. Instead of resembling the Force Edge as in other appearances, they appear to be two-pointed Shaken. While in Devil Trigger Form, the swords materialize around Nero whenever he fires the Blue Rose, and if he fires a Charge Shot multiple Summoned Swords will appear simultaneously before skewering the enemy in quick succession. As the Summoned Swords appear due to Nero's magical power, and not due to actual movements, they can even be used during cinematic Busters to enhance the damage inflicted.

[edit] Gameplay

Vergil's Summoned Swords are his equivalent for guns. However, unlike guns, they do not recoil and therefore cannot cause him to hover in mid-air. When using more than one Summoned Sword, it reduces the Devil Trigger Gauge by two full runes.

Nero's Summoned Swords flings towards the enemy briefly after hitting with his gun. So, when charging a shot and it hits, the Summoned Swords will remain surrounding Nero for a brief while before skewering the enemy in succession at different areas.

[edit] Trivia

As a boss in Devil May Cry 3, Vergil only uses Summoned Swords in "Dante Must Die" mode.
