Let us talk about the Taunts

Is the "Rainbow" a taunt?[]

In Devil May Cry 4, a new move performed by Nero is called "Rainbow", it is a flying kick to the face after a fast run (as shown in the opening video), and it can deal damage equal to 5 shots from the Blue Rose, I believed it is a taunt, because of the key you press to perform it. It's not a taunt, it's an attack (a dropkick), because it damages enemies. The input key doesn't mean much, it just happened to be the only key available for it :p It also doesn't do anything mechanically that Tuants do, either. No DT bonus, no Style suspension/rise. Just a random attack you can do. Derekoe 15:48, October 23, 2011 (UTC)
I thought it was worth mentioning, so I had included a line about Rainbow, but it was taken out by another editor. As far as attacks go, Rainbow is kind of not really one... Sure, it will charge a gyro blade to full, but it doesn't really seem to hurt enemies all that much, as I haven't nocticed kicked enemies dying any easier to normal attacks than non-kicked enemies. I'll have to check and see about the DT regen. --Anobi 17:50, October 23, 2011 (UTC)
Well, based on gameplay testing, it may be concluded that it is an attack. When you use the Rainbow on Heaven or Hell mode (everything is one-hit kill), it kills an enemy! But, it may be considered a "taunt" because this is Nero's very own signature move in DMC4 as seen on the fact that Nero does it on Dante's face in the prologue, just before they fight. DT Regen in the HD Collection[]

I've been beating things up in the Devil May Cry HD Collection for a while now and I've noticed that taunting actually does regenerate Dante's DT in DMC3, unlike what is presented in the article. DT only goes up when taunting has an effect on the style meter, however; like repeating the same attack, continuous taunting does not raise the style meter, only when it's altered with other attacks. And it's only when I can do that does the DT meter fill. Is this new for the HD collection, or was it this way in the initial release(s) of the game? --Anobi 06:19, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Same for PC's SE version, just checked. Don't know if the same applies to the original PS2 version though, although it probably does. My signature is NOT short! 11:33, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
