Currently I am more focused on the Digimon Wiki, in the middle of a large overhaul, so I will not be very active here. I will answer messages, and revert vandalism, but if you show interest to the wiki, I will be more than willing to give you admin abilities so that you don't have to wait on me to get work done. Just ask if you're interested.

Regarding the Enemy pagesEdit

I believe that it would be better if we merge Nelo Angelo with Vergil's article, and create a new article like Nelo Angelo(Enemy), Vergil (enemy) you know, for listing out their battle strategies. same goes for Agnus, etc.etc. Apply to storyline bosses only, one-shot bosses and minions strategies can be written on their enemy pages, thoughts?--NeloAngelo 01:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Helpe with ParserFuctions Edit

Hi there!

The code is alright.

What you're doing wrong is you're not assigning the value to the variable you're switching against. :) Instead of doing

Alternatively, you could replace the in the switch statement with and then include the template the way you're doing it now. But that makes the second parameter (boss) mandatory for the third one to work.

Good luck.

CreatePage note Edit

Hullo! This a quick note to mention we've activated the new Special:Createpage tool on your wiki - please visit here for more info! Kirkburn (talk) 19:15, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Stop it!!!Edit

Next time while deleting a image, make sure you checked the links before deleting, look at Lady's page. It's a mess.--NeloAngelo 12:38, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

The info-box problem gave me a hard time, so I decided ask about your thoughts; We could make disambiguation pages, ie: Nevan's page could be an article showing two links, the character and the devil arm, the character gets the info box while the devil arm gets the DA infobox. Thoughts?--NeloAngelo 09:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Good point.--NeloAngelo 09:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

very well then Edit

I shall edit whatever I see fit, and you do whatever you see fit. We edit our own manual of style, without touching or tainting each others.--NeloAngelo 05:05, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Thanks for cleaning up some of my edits, I just wanted to get the style page up and running. Also I don't know anything about vandalizing Alastor, I didn't edit that page nor did I vandalize Pandora.

Good Job Edit

Wow, consider me blown away, good job upon chewing away annons helpful (and detailed to boot) edits, and making another factory article. Good job. -_---NeloAngelo 06:37, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Shall Never Surrender. Edit

Yes, I had to use the "
" thing from another website. Mainly because I don't know how to use a "Enter" here, such as what happened when I first created Shall Never Surrender page. Deimel Longshot 11:55, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Blue Rose Edit

Good catch on Lady's SMG and Pistol reload, I completely forgot about that heh. I need to play 3 again.

Berial Edit

ok, so you want what part of what page on what other page? --Uberfuzzy 21:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Thanks for cleaning my Gilgamesh thingy and change the name of Echidna.

I'm just wondering, the site would be more interesting if we can putting some gameplay articles to Devil May Cry 4 category. And possibly clean up DMC4 a little bit, right now it's just a page of its storyline.

Sweet~~ Edit

That's cool then. I'll see what I can add to make this wiki more interesting. And I was thinking of even including things like how to do jump cancel moves with each weapon. Well, it's bedtime for me, I'll come and add some more stuffs tomoro. I am pretty new to this wiki thing, only just found it today, haha. So i might need people like you to maybe clean my sloppy styles. And thanks again.

Need a hand?Edit

Like User:NeloAngelo, I too am a user on FFwikia and if there's anything you need, just ask. Hell, I'll even help with references if that's really what you want.--Maverick King 01:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

In case you haven't noticed, I took the liberty of putting random quotes on the Main Page. Feel free to add more quotes here if you can think them up. Hope you'll like them. --Maverick King 21:31, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Enzo Ferrino and various imagesEdit

I added the jacket thing to reference the clothes comment in the Viewtiful Joe quote. Plus the rest of the stuff was just to show how the rumor was shot down by the developers themselves with time.
Yeah when I start adding things as I think of them I tend to trail off a bit heh. I'll try not to be as bad about that next time.
Sorry about the Yamato image. That was the best I could do with what I had aside from poor cropping on my part.
Also could you add User Com templates for DMC2?

Sorry about that mistake on the Enzo theory. Should have checked my sources better so something like that won't happen again. --Maverick King 18:09, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

User Com TemplatesEdit

The only colors that really stand out on the case are black, white, and yellow. So I guess black and yellow would be the best bet.
The red and the yellow ones don't look too bad. Thanks for making these!

The new guy & how to talkEdit

Hey, is it ok if I make a kinda recruiting template? Like if unregistered user make edit, we post that on their talk to try to persuade them into being a member.

And do you want me to bring talk bubbles over from FFWikia? Alot of other wikias use it and it might be a good idea. And they are kinda fun to tweak and use.--Maverick King 23:06, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

collapseable tables Edit

sorry for not getting this done sooner, got side tracked, and didnt get back around to this wiki till now. i've setup a personal job tracker so i dont forget stuff like this again.

anywho... Wikipedia:Collapsible_tables

add collapsible to the class of the of the table.

you can also add collapsed if you want it to pre-collapse on pageload.

the only caveat is that the first line of the table needs to be a header (a ! line) for it to work.

i'm gonna go poke your ref template to see if i can get it to work there. (man you sure do like refs)

--Uberfuzzy 17:27, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

note on the reflist usage. since its done with a div, and not a table, you cant add it directly, but if you look at what i did on the key item page, its not that hard to wrap the reflist in a simple small table if you need to collpase it on a page (like if you have a large amount of ref's you need/want to hide) --Uberfuzzy 17:40, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Sparda image and Userboxes Edit

The Sparda image is great! The only thing that bothers me is Arkham's quote. Any way you can take that out?

And with the userboxes I'd say bloody palace is cool, but achievements are tricky, because some people own the ps3 copy (me included). They might not get used as much. Your call though. Oh, boxes for unlockables are cool, too.

Can be found in mission 16, in the Endless Infernum?

Main page dev Edit

Heya, I've been cooking up a main page update - can you take a look at User talk:Kirkburn/Dev‎? Thanks! Kirkburn (talk) 01:20, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Re-ping about User talk:Kirkburn/Dev‎! I can implement myself, if you wish. Are there any changes you want to make to it, or indeed for me to make to it? Ta! Kirkburn (talk) 13:09, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Please Tell me you have Rollback RightsEdit

Dante's page is a mess. I'd do it myself but it would just be easier to roll back a couple times. Good seeing ya--Maverick King 01:17, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Ad formattingEdit

Hi Kryten -- I saw your post on the Transformers community portal, and you said that the ads are messing up some of your formatting. I found a couple pages where the ads would get in the way, so I made some sandbox pages to show you one way of resolving that -- Sparda (Force Edge)/sandbox and Yamato/sandbox. Using a gallery there helps to keep the pictures from pushing down into the Movesets table. Does that help? -- Danny@Wikia (talk) 03:22, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi -- I see you're on the site, so I want to make sure you saw my reply to your questions on my talk page.... -- Danny@Wikia (talk) 18:22, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Adding ImagesEdit

As I noted before, I think I'll just be contributing images mostly, but I was wondering... at what point do you think it becomes overkill? I added in the images for Nero's Devil Bringer upgrades, which I thought was appropriate, but I still have images of a Grim Grip, a Gyro Blade, etc. that I believe could be tucked into those sections as well. I'm just concerned that it's going to make it too cluttered if I do. It's a similar story for adding in images of all of the different orbs or key items. What do you think? Dj ultima 08:00, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

More About ImagesEdit

Just wanted to mention as well that if there are any particular images you'd like screencapped from the fourth game, let me know. I have lots of stuff that I just haven't found a good place to logically sneak into articles - and even if I don't have a certain image, I'd be happy to try and grab it. Dj ultima 08:35, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Linking Within ArticlesEdit

Skimmed the Manual of Style and couldn't find anything on this topic (though I'm sure I've seen it before), so I'll pose it to you. Within an article, should a new name only be linked the first time it's shown or every time it's shown? I was going by "first time only" thus far, but I notice that the Trish article links Dante and Mundus quite a few times. Just wanted to know what the protocol was on that, and then maybe I can go around and do some little clean ups. Dj ultima 14:20, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah, if you wanted to admin me now so it's not a hassle later, go ahead. I have a steadier internet connection than I thought I would, and more free time as well, so I may be able to do more than I thought I could while overseas. Dj ultima 21:04, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Page: GaugesEdit

I wanted to know your thoughts regarding a few things on this page: I'm not sure that that page is really necessary anymore, so I was thinking just to delete it based upon this:

  • Vitality Gauge - was a wanted page that I filled in a few weeks ago.
  • Devil Trigger Gauge - doesn't have any information in this article, and it's a wanted page on its own anyway.
  • Stylish Rank Gauge - already has a page of its own.
  • Style Gauge - not sure what this is or how it's different from the Stylish Rank Gauge. Am I forgetting something?
  • Royal Gauge - doesn't need it's own page. It's covered in the Royalguard Style page, and should probably have the term just be a redirect to that page.
  • EX Gauge - same story as the Royal Gauge, except that it should just redirect to Red Queen.
  • Disaster Gauge - same as the last two; covered by Pandora and should just be a redirect to there.

What do you think? If I redirected stuff, do we still need Gauges? Dj ultima 11:43, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Video Edit

Hey KrytenKoro. I wanted to give you a heads up on a new project that we, the Wikia Gaming Team, are starting. I'm going to the top gaming wikis and adding relevant videos (from GameTrailers and YouTube) to the most popular/visited articles. We'll be tracking their usage to find out if it could be an extra enhancement to articles that people will use. If you have any questions, feedback, etc, feel free to drop me a message. JoePlay (talk) 17:10, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Devil Trigger Edit

I think... Wouldn't it to be easier to make one article with staff like Devil Spirit Form and Devil Form then spam numerous "articles" with 2-3 sentences? Maybe not named Devil trigger though. Flia 07:44, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Some questions Edit

First question is... Why do you think that Pandora isn't a Devil arm? There are two references on that: a) Devil May Cry 4,Dante's Arms File — Pandora: "A demonic weapon capable of 666 calamitous forms. It spells misery and disaster for countless foes.", b) Agnus said that he used Devil Arms for creating Hell Gates, and Pandora was used for that. ( c) It is obviously of a demonic origin anyway :))

Another thing is that I want to do some serious work on Fortuna article and don't know... Well, there is already information on the Order and the island/town (and I will add some more) so if I add there information on geography (Mitis Forest, Order H.Q., Fortuna Castle/Lamina Peak) it can create a mess. I may: a) create separate articles on The Order and the geography of the island, b) create articles on The Order and locations (on each one - its own) and then link to them from the town page, c) leave as it is, d) do something else. What shall I do?

And the last question is about Mitis Forest. Then you enter it, Nero and Dante have some conversation, which give me intresting thought...(Nero: A forest…? Dante: What the hell is this? Must be the effect of the gate… ) First I suspect that he mean that forest is of the demonic origin but then I thought... What is "this"? Forest, castle, both? What do you think? Flia 16:42, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Isn't that reference enough to call it Devil Arm? Agnus almost said that Pandora is a devil arm, just not by name.

And about Fortuna... I think I'll better save it as I'm written it already - I made it very close to your plan anyway (And you'll have opportunity to critisize it :)). Won't add much info on island's locations though, or maybe add it later. Flia 18:33, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Devil May Cry 4, dialogue (after first Agnus battle in underground laboratory): Agnus: See what just a small fraction of my research has yielded? Look! How beautiful this white armor stands! You have no idea the hardship to make just one armor come to life. I had to capture and control countless demons to harness their souls. Summoning them alone was almost an insurmountable task! Nero: Summoning, so it was you... who made the gate! Agnus: Yes, yes, the Hellgate.I created it merely as a reference in substitution for the real gate. But after utilizing an extremely powerful devil arms… It proved sufficient.

These devil arms were, as you may remember, Gilgamesh (Echidna gate), Pandora (Bael/Dagon gate) and Lucifer (Berial gate). So this is proven :) And as for Artemis (don't know anything about Nightmare) - in third game weapons were classified as "devil arms" and "guns", yes, but in forth as "swords" and "guns" - because of Pandora. Flia 20:14, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Pluralization? Well, didn't think that is impotant, so you made me check it again... And there is no pluralization, you are right. I did a mistake. Though there always is fact that Dante found Devil Arms near Hellgates and then destroys the portals with retrospective item. (Although last statement may be just a consequence.)Flia 21:28, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Trivia or Speculation?Edit

Hmm, I don't know if you are the guy to handle this, but I'll suggest it anyway.

I notice that many of the pages have a trivia section, which is fine and good and everything in itself. But many times it seems that the trivia sections has theories and speculation or someone pushing for a certain point of view. I propose that for "controversial" topics, we have a special section for speculation or theories. I understand I'm opening Pandora's box with this, but I think it is a good idea. The most popular or valid theories could be posted, along with advantages and disadvantages of each, to remain objective.

That is all. Carry on. -- 00:33, 20 January 2009 (UTC) (Moses)

I was thinking that specifically the second to last trivia point in Nero's article is out of place. But in general, there is a lot of speculation within articles, like about Sparda not being dead (he is). I haven't really gone through every article yet.

I also noticed that there is sometimes a Background section and a Trivia section, and the difference is unclear to me. -- 03:08, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Suggestions Edit

Eeh, it's difficult not to forget that The Savior has no gender in English... Because in Russian he does. :) Anyway, then I edited that article I wanted to add Strategy section, but then I thought: why do so if here is such thing as Walkthough? And then I thought about all other boss articles... Well, it will be logical to place all "lore" things in one article, and all in-game ones in another. Then just create link from one to another. Stragies anyway will be in Walkthough some day, so why write it twice?

Also I found that some articles such as Divinity Statue, Vitality Gauge, Sealed Doors have no category. Maybe create new category named "Gameplay" or something like that? There also can be placed such things as Devil Trigger/Form articles, Techiques articles... What do you think? Flia 13:30, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Button Edit

I think I've fixed it; I moved the </onlyinclude> so that it was right beside the last }} rather than the line after the }}, this usually fixes those kinds of errors because if you don't put a tag immediately after the last code, then the template will think there's a line after the }} resulting in an unwanted space. Hopefully that made sense.--Richardtalk 17:38, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

An ally's request Edit

Heyho, I'm Fazzelo a bureaucrat from the german Bleachwiki. First off I like the idea of your DMC-Wiki. I'm a big fan of the DMC-Games myself, but there is no such wiki in German language and I don't feel my English is good enough to contribute here :'(. Anyways I have a request: I'm about to re-design my own wiki and a problem arose, while I was coloring the background I saw that the Recent Changes Box had the same color as the background. So I wondered how to avoid this problem and thought you were the right person to help. Maybe you could send me the code I need to edit this box. I promise that I won't copy your style, although I like it very much. Fazzelo 20:24, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Allright, thanks for the clue and sorry for bothering :D. Anyways have a good time and greetings from Germany (Maybe I'm going to contribute in this Wiki, if my English is okay to you)^^. Fazzelo 20:59, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Music theme listingEdit

Could we possibly have a template for characters that would include specific themes for corresponding characters?

Templates Edit

Well, want to try to write some walkthroughs, and found that there is no template for Secret missions. Template: InfoMission doesn't suits it - there absent some essential lines (like conditions af failing mission and requisitions to complete it) and present some unnecessary ones (like Boss and Tutorials). I would write it myself but I don't know anything about making templates and afraid that will do it wrong. Could you write it please?

Also when I looked in Templates category I found that:

1) Template:Devilarms isn't used anywhere. I wanted to include it in some articles, but then looked again and saw that there is really no place for infoboxes on most weapon pages (like Beowulf, Nevan, Yamato etc...). That isn't good. And if we are going to use this template it needs to be extended to all kinds of weapon (guns and normal ones), not only devil arms.

2) Again InfoMission box - well, lines Lesser demon (1) and (2) look really ugly in articles. I think they should be renamed, but again afraid that will do something wrong. (When I press "edit page" those strings of code really frighten me...)

3) There is no template for bosses and enemies. Although here may problem arise as with devil arms articles... Flia 14:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, I found one exception :) In SC Vermifuge - if you kill Scarecrow. Though maybe you're right. Only other lines I can think of are already-mentioned time limit and the name of in-game location, though maybe they will look better in the description. And if we don't use devilarms template, why it isn't deleted yet?
And please answer to my Talk page. I know what my user page is empty and it definitely needs to be filled in, but still... Flia 15:30, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Motion capture Edit

Sorry for my late reply, wasn't here for few days.

Well, I tried to find something, but didn't found anything. On other actors databases there is either a link to imdb or nothing. I also looked on Capcom off site, and capcom-unity site - nothing. I will try to search for more, though I'm not too good on finding information... *sigh*. But, well, it is possible that there is something on Japanese sites, though it is not guaranteed and I don't know Japanese. Also it is possible to ask on forums and if you ask, I will do it.

Also about Blue rose. Are you sure it is all just modern tales? I'm not saying that you're wrong, just... curious. Also, even if you're right, it is a fact that blue roses don't exist in nature, so it still can "signify a mystery, or attaining the impossible". Flia 14:22, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Blue roses Edit

Uhhh, did some heavy (re)search on this matter and have digged something at last. Though I can't say that anything of what I found could be enough on itself, together they could make some picture... Here are most clear hints of what I've found:

Roses have been grown for a long time - 5,000 years or more. It is said that the varieties developed to more than 25,000 species and a wide variety of colours exists including red, white, pink and yellow. For a long time, breeders have been trying to develop blue roses, which have long been synonym for the impossible. In an effort to achieve this breeders have been crossing rose varieties grown all around the world. As a result, there are so-called 'blue' roses already on the market.
Roses have been cultivated since before Christ in almost every size, shape, and color, yet breeders have never managed to create a blue rose. Sure, some varieties are marketed with names like ‘Blue Boy’ or ‘Blue Bell’, but as many a disappointed gardener can attest, the blossoms are invariably lavender or purple. A true blue bloom remains elusive and mythic—the Holy Grail of gardening.
  • MisterInfo - article with the biggest amount of information, yet I don't know anything of reliability of that source.
  • Urban Dictionary - yes, it is user-wrote, but still says something.

Also I found a lot (nearly one third of search results, others being news sites (articles about Florigene) and shopping ones) of different songs and poems, even Rudyard Kipling's one, all using blue roses as symbol of something unattainable or mysterious. So now, after receiving a terrible headache), I think it is just common knowledge or folklore. Even if it is a modern myth it is definitely a symbol by now. Flia 20:51, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I think we can go with this, what do you think?

  • Blue roses, which cannot occur naturally, have long been a symbol for extreme rarity or attaining the impossible. Roses also traditionally symbolize love, while blue flowers are used to signify great faithfulness and loyalty; the combination of the two would thus denote a lasting, faithful love.

Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 03:53, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

It will work well. Added that to the article. Flia 08:36, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Promotion Edit

Uh...oh... This was... all of a sudden. Wasn't really looking forward to it. I think I owe you thanks though. Although I personally think that I'm, well, not an admin-type. Still, I will try to use this new awesome admin powers only to make the devils cry... if I come to terms with all these new buttons. Uh. Flia 20:50, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Seven Sins Edit

Thank you! Too bad I don't know Spanish though.

P.S.: Sorry for late reply, but I'm really beginning to sink in all these studies. I'm not even sure will I contribute here much on next week... or month... Although there will be summer holidays anyway. (I hope at least they will be.)

What??? Edit

what does that mean. user:JosephFrost0304 best way to reach me is at Resident Evil wikia, user:JosephFrost0304.

OK Edit

ummm HI then..........Well by.

Ability descriptions for Devil ArmsEdit

We kinda really need these. I wrote one down for Yamato, but you had erased. So, I'd like to request we have these descriptions written down in the articles. Kaihedgie 06:33, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

The articles only have a a moveset, short overview and history, but that's it. No full description/evaluation of their powers. Kaihedgie 07:12, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Thing is, we need a written full evaluation of the Devil Arms' abilities based on the nature of them as well as what we can gather from the attacks available to them.

For example, we know that Yamato is a dark-elemental blade, but what wasn't noted was that it has some influence over space to some extent, which comes in the form of Judgment Cut and Slash Dimension. And on that note, the moveset for Yamato in Dante's possession is missing since Yamato counts as a weapon for Dante. Yeah I know, it's in the Dark Slayer style, but stillKaihedgie 06:20, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Templates... again. Edit

Could you please do something about Template: InfoCharacter? It seems that it don't have the species line in the table at all. I tried to do something about it but as it isn't displayed in the preview I stopped. Also it doesn't display correctly in the template page - is it because most lines are optional?

Also why did you started editing it in the first place? (Just asking, no offence)

And one more question. Template: Stub now has a picture, but it doesn't appear in the stub articles. Should some time pass before it will be displayed or they (pages) have to be updated in order to work? Update: It seems that everything is okay now, question is closed. Flia 12:48, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Lucia Edit

Why so? - look at the cutscene near the end (where Arius tells the truth about Lucia). Firstly, he pronounces Chi as [kaj] (or maybe [kaɪ]), not as [tʃɪ] as it should be by reading rules. (Am I wrong somewhere?) Secondly, then Arius's Secretary wears off her mask, she looks exactly (or at least very similar) to Lucia. The latter even used that to infiltrate Arius's building by wearing a similar disguise. Put together with her artificial nature, it is very likely that she is a defective Secretary. However I admit, this isn't said directly anywhere, so if you insist, I will not add that again to the article. Flia 12:55, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh, it was a name of a greek letter? Lemme see this... Yeah, you're right. Didn't know this, thanks. Then my comment is really useless. Though it is interesting... There should be a connection between Lucia and Chi, I'll try to find something on this matter. Or maybe you know something about it?.. Flia 20:39, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

That is a fairly obvious thought, it came to me too. But creators chose Chi of all the others, so I believe that number is not the only reason. I thought of something like that Chi is a predecessor of X, and X is often used to name an unknown factor or variable. Lucia is a defect, and as such is an "unknown factor" for Arius. (What a crazy idea though). Maybe will have some more thoughts later. Flia 21:03, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Very well Edit

I have repealed my piece on how corrupt NeloAngelo was because of your message though I do not agree in the least. --Omnimon456 01:24, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Library notes, etc Edit

You mean the this? I just can't find anything to prove the Dante-needs-to-focus-his-demonic-energy-though-weapons theory. I'm pretty sure that I'm overlooking something, as I heard that somewhere before... though it could be just a very good suitable speculation. Flia 09:44, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

"Alastor and Ifrit are the names of living weapons that try to defeat the human who acquires them. But they are also key to releasing Dante’s inner unlimited power. Rule the weapons of the devilish gods and pull the Devil Trigger!"

"Devil May Cry 2, Weapon File — Handguns: "Dante’s hand-made twin pistols. They fire bullets with magic power.""

Many of the weapon moves specifically mention that they channel Dante's demonic energy into the weapon, but that's not Devil Trigger.

That's the only thing I can find that explicitly says anything about Devil Trigger and weapons. The rest of it is simply viewing the games:

  • Dante obtains his DT in DMC3, but it is controlled by which weapon he is using.
  • Dante cannot use his DT in DMC until he obtains a weapon other than the Force Edge, and it is still controlled by which weapon he is using.
  • In DMC4, Dante's DT is independent of his weapon.
  • In DMC2, Dante's DT is independent of his weapon, but modifiable by an Amulet of his.

I think, if anything, he needs to draw upon the demonic power of his weapon to boost his own in the early games, but I don't think it's anything like with Bleach, where all the power is stored or demonstrated through the weapon. As he grows, he seems to have enough demonic energy of his own that he can go into DT independent of the weapon he carries, and can eventually use totally unmagical weapons by DMC2.Glorious CHAOS! 11:52, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

(Sorry for late reply, was away from civilization for a few days. That was a sudden decision, actually...)

I see. Thanks for info, it clarified some things to me. But I have two more questions.

  1. What happens if you change weapon in DT in DMC1? Like Ifrit to Alastor or Force Edge.
  2. Do amulets modify appearance of DT too? Flia 20:44, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

And if you change to Force Edge? It doesn't have DF, right? So, you just go out of DF? And you can't fly without Aerial Heart equipped, right? Also, do you have breath timer without Aqua Heart? (Also want to ask about breath timer in DMC1 - does it present there?) Flia 09:37, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

My talk pageEdit

still need help... Edit

I am Forerunner, though on Wikipedia (we have met before) I am called "OsirisV". One of the Reswikians asked for assistance with the character infobox on Resident Evil Wiki, noticing that the infobox on Devil May Cry works well in hiding unused fields. Alas, we have not succeeded and I come to you in person (in a sort) to ask you for help.

Consider it an expansion of your helpfulness to society, (also note that this will give you time to have a look at our Devil May Cry page :p)-- Forerunner 21:17, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Several questions about DT Edit

Again about DT article. God, it is a hard one. :)

First, I want to ask again about merging DF and DT. The only difference between them is that one is dependent on equipped weapon and one is not, right? That's not enough. I remember your arguments for keeping them separate, but it would've been reasonable if it was distinguished by the games themselves.

Second, what about merging with Devil Trigger Gauge? These subjects are just too close-related to keep them separate.

For now, I think article should look something like that:

  • (Intro)
  • Recurring features
    • General
    • Devil Trigger Gauge
    • DT-explosion
    • I-frames
    • Super Characters
  • DMC1
    • Dante
    • Enemies
  • DMC2
    • Dante
    • Lucia
    • Trish
    • Secretary (maybe create one section for all four?)
    • Enemies (do they have it?)
  • DMC3
    • Dante
    • Vergil
    • Enemies (didn't get to dmd yet though)
  • DMC4
    • Nero
    • Dante
    • Enemies
  • DMC:TAS - (Behold! The devil Eye! :))
  • DMC manga - or maybe not to include? Dante's DT was... well... was it actually DT?..
  • Movesets, trivia, etc.

Anyway, I must admit, I won't be able to make the article complete by myself in any given time. I just don't know all aspects of DT in first two games, and even if I keep on asking someone else it's not enough.Flia 11:02, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

What is DF?
Merging with the Gauge would be reasonable, now that the images aren't there to fill up the page so much.
What is I-frames?
"General" is probably going to be redundant to the lead. There's not too much to cover there without covering what the Devil Trigger is.
The "Enemies" section probably isn't needed in each section. All that really happens is that on Dante Must Die (and certain puzzle rooms), the enemies are able to DT, and as far as I know it has the same effects for each enemy, in each game. It could probably be covered in the lead (Since we're going to be mentioning how others can DT as well), and shouldn't need to be repeated throughout the page.
"Secretary" is just one of Lucia's costumes, so it can probably fit in her section.
As far as I know, the anime never actually showed the Devil Trigger, though there was some implication it had been used in the final battle.
It was not his "controlled" DT from DMC3, but it was clearly him releasing the power and form of Sparda, so I would say yes.
The Trivia section we have now should really only have the Tensei thing, and that should probably be in the lead or some "Design" section.
Everything else sounds about right, we just need to watch out that the article doesn't get too big.Glorious CHAOS! 16:36, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

DF = Devil Form. Also, same goes for Angel Form and Dark Angel Form. Highly redundant if I want to write about demon powers in DMC2&4.

I-frames - fan term, short for invincibility frames. Animation, during which you cannot receive damage or be knocked off. From my article (still thinking on this part though):

" ...More useful aspect of DT activation is temporary invincibility of the character. This phenomenon is called i-frames (short for invincibility frames) by fans. Although it is not exclusive to Devil Trigger, i-frames on activation are the longest and easiest to time. Even though it lasts for several milliseconds, it is one of the most important abilities in the game. For example, its use is almost required to pass the Containment Room on higher difficulties without items, as Nero can't block attacks. "

I know of existence of i-frames in DMC3&4, but as it seems to be a kind of technical thing (during rolling you're invulnerable - I think that is i-frames too) it could be in others too. Also, saw a video on youtube, where someone blocked Berial's explosion attack with i-frames of a regular slash. That was something.

General section is mostly about speed enhancement, health regeneration and special abilities. There is such info in there anyway, so I just gave it a name.

"While in Devil Trigger, the character's speed and strength increase, and they constantly recuperate vitality. Additional effects are apparent, though these vary between games, and are usually determined by the equipped weapons or items. For example, Dante will usually gain the ability to hover while in Devil Trigger, but this is obtained by equipping the Alastor in Devil May Cry, the Aerial Heart in Devil May Cry 2, and the Rebellion or Nevan in Devil May Cry 3."

(Also not sure about Rebellion. As Nevan gives ability to hover using powered-up wings, Rebellion doesn't change anything. I didn't play very much DMC3 though, I may overlook something.)

"...and certain puzzle rooms"? Which ones?

""Secretary" is just one of Lucia's costumes, so it can probably fit in her section." And Trish is a costume too then :) I think about it more like of an unlockable character, though I may be wrong.

You're wrong it was shown :) Behold the devil eye! :) Though it is just silly. I didn't even realized at first that it was DT, but now I'm pretty sure it was.

Why they at least didn't finished it (manga)? It could explained some things, and as of now it just gives new questions. As if there aren't enough already. That moment with Alice is just one big, several-pages-long question. When Dante used DT fighting Sloth and in the game, Rebellion changed. And back there it wasn't. And in fight with Sloth he used borrowed from Hatter power. Flia 20:10, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Devil Form can be merged in, I guess.
Trish has a totally different set of weapons, and her DT works completely different. She is a selectable character on Lucia's Disk (Dante's too, I think), but is not like the Secretary, who is exactly like Lucia in terms of gameplay.
I-frames are not specific to DT, so they will actually work best as their own article. I think the best term would be "Royal" or "Just Frames", as that's closer to what the games use.
In DMC3, in the Artemis trials, the enemies turn on DT as part of the puzzle, no matter the difficulty level. There might be others in 1 and 2, but I can't recall them off the top of my head.Glorious CHAOS! 02:27, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Epigraph Edit

Well, about epigraphs on the pages... Some time ago, I remember, you deleted one of my epigraphs (I believe it was for Devil Bringer) because it wasn't said by the subject of the article. Could that be reconsidered? I actually read several wikis closely and they usually use quotes said by different people, not just the subject, not to mention that sometimes quote said by someone else could be more appropriate. Flia 13:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

The problem as I see it is that using quotes in that way would be decoration. In my view, we use the quotes on character pages to showcase the character's personality; this is also how tfwiki, one of the premier wiki's, uses them. However, if it's just someone explaining something about someone or something, that would be more appropriate as a citation, because we're only using it to inform about the subject. I guess the Devil Bringer could get away with it, if we really have to, because it is technically Nero, and not just an object.Glorious CHAOS! 13:38, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Maybe. But, for example, epigraph on Eva's page isn't appropriate on my opinion. I'd rather place a DMC's quote (where Dante yells at Trish that "she doesn't have her fire"), DMC: TAS' one (where Dante explains to Brad about love between a human and a demon) or something else. Although I didn't thought over this question, I believe there could be more such cases, though it could require some digging. Flia 14:42, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

It's not the best quote, no, but the other two you suggest really don't seem that relevant - the bit from Dante, Eva really isn't remembered for her "fire", and it's a bit nonsensical of a quote; and the bit about love between a human and a demon is more a general mythology bit, like between Dante and Trish. I mean, it fits Eva's situation, but it doesn't tell us anything about who she is, really. If there's no other quotes from Eva, I guess the anime quote might be a good substitute, since she doesn't really have a personality - just the bit about her being Sparda's wife.Glorious CHAOS! 15:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Again with questions... Edit

Recently I tried to bring some order to this wiki... categorize stuff and such. So I have two questions:

1) If we have two duplicate images, which format I should give preference: jpg, png or gif? (Like File:Beezlebub.gif, File:Beezlebub.png and File:Jester.jpg, File:Jester.gif)

2) Second, about "elemental" categories. (Earth, Fire, Ice, etc.) Are they that needed? It is something directly unreferenced by DMC canon; besides, it seems to me to be a, hmm, slight overcategorization. To think about it, "Element" line in List of Weapons in the Devil May Cry series seems pretty useless too. Flia 15:06, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Elements are in fact referenced, especially by the combat adjudicators, but the category was something I did at someone's request a long time ago, and isn't necessary.
PNG generally has highest quality, then GIF, then JPG.Glorious CHAOS! 15:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

References Edit exactly do you use them? Please give exact details, we don't use references in FFWiki. :P --Silver Mage 06:05, October 13, 2009 (UTC) (sorry my sig doesn't work here.)

Oh, I see. I'll be studying how to use them today, then put in those references from the talk page tommorrow since I don't have a mouse and it's exam week (I'm using Mouse Keys, hurrah!). --Silver Mage 06:13, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

The problem with referencing is that I don't know anything about Devil May Cry. I only know the broad stuff. I'm editing here so that I may learn, eventually. Just like how I did with the other wikis. :P
I'll get to work trying to rephrase those sentences then. --Silver Mage 03:02, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

Category Tree Edit

(Special:UncategorizedCategories) Those elemental categories, where should they be? --Silver Mage 12:20, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

I guess under Category:Demons.Glorious CHAOS! 17:31, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

There is a teeny wittle problem. Some creatures who we classify as Devils also come with elemental categories. They should be either added in devils category as well, or Category: Devils should be merged with Category: Demons. Flia 19:44, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Nah, lets just classify those categories under both. (Too lazy to log in.) --Silver Mage 08:49, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
On the other hand, thinking about it further DOES make things more complicated.... --Silver Mage 12:48, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
As discussed earlier, the elemental categories are not wholly official, so it's not worth getting stressed about. They have basis in canon, but rely somewhat on OR.Glorious CHAOS! 15:43, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

Again with... Edit

...I just hope you will never get tired of these... Ahem.

So, this time about creating pages. Well, I find it highly inconvenient that the CreatePage editor is different from usual editor (which appears when you edit an article, not start it). And I even don't know why, as it is claimed to be the same in FAQs. Is it possible to make it the same? Flia 08:21, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Also, I was thinking about galleries. I personally think that it is a good idea, but remembering your words about overdecoration... Recently I tried to fill Gallery:Fortuna with views of it. What do you think about it? Flia 09:32, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Templates Edit

I apologize about removing those stub marks, but I have contributed enough details for some articles and I don't know how to cite sources and references. Actually, all of them came from Devil's Lair ([1]) and Devil May Cry Neoseeker ([}). But others were just contributed by myself as I play Devil May Cry 3 often (in PC). Please reply back for procedures how to cite references.

Re2: Templates Edit

I'm sorry to talk again with you, but do you know where the sources can be found? Is the reference and the source the same?

Okay, I got it. Thanks a lot.

Refunding Abilities in Devil May Cry 4 Edit

Splitting References Edit

Allowed or do we instead merge the sentences? (e.g. Blood-goyle) --Silver Mage 09:35, November 15, 2009 (UTC)

Since most files are generally only one sentence anyway, I don't think it would be appropriate to split them, except for DMC1 where you get what amounts to full articles straight from the game.
However, I don't think we should sacrifice the organization of the page just for the ref, either. What I usually do is use the ref after the last sentence which uses info from it.
For Blood-goyle, I think a good way to do it would be:

The Blood-Goyle is a lesser demon that appears in Devil May Cry 3, and is created when blood touches certain enchanted statues. The Blood-Goyle also has the ability to split in half when hit with melee weapons, but modern-day weapons such as guns will actually cause it to temporarily revert back into an immobile statue."ref"Glorious CHAOS! 10:45, November 15, 2009 (UTC)multiple sizes, "gift" from Jester.

ps360 Edit

why not the edited pic that i uploaded,it doesn't have ps3 or 360 logo in it

Editing it makes it technically inaccurate, and the XBOX version has the logo on the top, allowing it to look less squished within the infobox than the PS3 image.Glorious CHAOS! 06:14, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

Okay fine (this is not over) anyway I'm thinking of uploading pictures of Dante using Gilgamesh, lucifer, pandora(well carrying a suitcase) and in his DT,it's from the official site so I thought you guys already seen it but decided not to upload, should I or just don't bother with it.

hi Edit

While I understand you editing the page, I do not understand why you go out of your way to delete my comment on the comic book when the crappy information on the Devil May Cry part of it was just trading remarks back and forth in the first place. Although it was regarding the DMC comic book from dreamwave, they are still connected, I don't care if their storylines are different. While you may not agree with my comment on the Phantom actually being asexual, I'm just pointing out the evidence that points to it. It was necessary information that didn't need to be deleted in the first place, although some was personal opinion, there were still facts there to back it up. Mundas created him as his right-hand man, meaning he only created one and had the ability to reproduce would clearly indicate that he was asexual. His human form in the DMC novel was male, and he has much too manly of a voice in his demon form to be female and therefore would have to be asexual. I would like for you to fix it in your own way or I will probably be playing tag with you on that page for quite a while (I do have a TON of free time and seeing as you also are constantly editing this page, you probably do as well). Everybody else's personal opinion was there on other pages, even with evidence, why was mine not valid? 05:53, November 19, 2009 (UTC)

  1. I moved the Dreamwave stuff to the proper section, I didn't delete it.
  2. Though it is never actually said that Mundus created Phantom, or that there is only one (we do see multiples in the anime, after all), what is the evidence for it reproducing? The miniature forms? Why would that have anything to do with biological reproduction? It's a fricking DEMON, not some exotic arachnid. It's a spirit manifesting in lava - we have absolutely no reason to think that those are anything more than "Mini-Me's", like in Evil Dead. Hell, the fact that is is literally an unnatural abomination means that there's no reason to even think it would have to be female or asexual to reproduce, or that it would have to be with another Phantom.
  3. The part summarizing the DMC plot was, you know, straight from the game, not ridiculous speculation.Glorious CHAOS! 06:02, November 19, 2009 (UTC)

First off, if you had moved it the "latest activity" would have shown it and there isn't even a link to the page. Secondly, Mundus says to Nelo Angelo "You're my only adopted son" right after Griffon and Phantom died in the Dreamwave comic. Also, Mundus created Trish, so I'm pretty sure based on that alone is proof. But in the DMC2 novel, it says that he did create Phantom when Dante was thinking to himself when he was talking to Shadow Phantom Griffon Blade and Frost; it says "Dante knew the five leaders wouldn't be able to marshall their forces to overcome Mundas. The demon king was too cautious and clever to create minions more powerful than himself", meaning he created every single one of them. So why would he create more than one right-hand man? The miniature forms are called "babies"; would that not be implying biological reproduction? Also, I left out something that again points in my favor: the Kyklopse. Its description on the official DMC web page is "A smaller relative of the Phantom, the Kyklops manifests from rock, rather than lava. Using attacks similar to the Phantom, such as a claw swipe and pounce, it uses its size as an advantage". If demons didn't reproduce sexually, they wouldn't be called "relatives". If demons didn't have sex/biologically reproduce, then the main storyline wouldn't even EXIST, you smart-mouthed elitist moron. 08:09, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Read the damn page again. The Dreamwave stuff is still there.
Furthermore, the Dreamwave comics are completely non-canon. So your entire argument is bankrupt from the beginning.
"based on that alone is proof" is imbecilic. Sparda's a demon, so your logic claims that he is also Mundus's creation, making Dante Mundus's grandson. That idiocy is not at all backed up by the games.
"creating minions", especially in that context, also refers to the simple act of MAKING THEM HIS MINIONS.
"Baby" does not imply biological reproduction. It simply implies creation.
"A smaller relative of the Phantom, the Kyklops manifests from rock, rather than lava."
Read that highlighted bit a few times before saying something moronic. It's an f'ing demon. Demons CAN reproduce, or replicate, or divide, or whatever they want to when they take a physical form. For crying out loud, Incubus and Succubus are said to be the same demon, getting pregnant and impregnating others. The whole point of demons is to be unnatural abominations. For your claim that "you must have been sexually reproduced to be called a relative" - have you seriously never heard of The Father or The Son?

Let's go back to your basic argument, because I think you're missing the point that my different points don't actually have to be cohesive, anyway - I only have to show that your conclusions aren't the only possible result of the evidence. So, to summarize your argument: because Phantom Babies exist(1), the Phantom must be their biological parent (2), and because it is the only Phantom demon (3), it must be female (4).

  1. I'll grant this one to you, though the only evidence for it whatsoever is that there is a secret mission titles "Phantom Baby" (not "Phantom Babies", not "Phantom's Babies", and certainly not an Enemy File entry).
  2. The lesser demons that appear are said to range between manifested spirits, and fabrications of Mundus. There is no reason that any demon must be a biological child unless it is specifically said to be.
  3. Devil May Cry 2 specifically has both Dante and Lucia defeat a Phantom, and multiple Phantom-like demons appear in the anime opener. Furthermore, many Devil-class demons are shown to have families - Bael & Dagon, Agni & Rudra, Baul & Modeus. While their is certainly precedent to think that there is only one demon named Phantom, there is no reason to think that it is the only one of its "species". Furthermore, the fact that Sparda was able to mate with Eva is outright proof that demons don't have to stay within their species. Then, we have the extraordinarily similar Arachne's in Devil May Cry 3, and you outright acknowledge that Kyklops are said to be relatives. So, even if your first claim is true, there is absolutely no reason to believe that Phantom has no mating options.
  4. As I said before, demons are, by definition, unnatural abominations. If certain species of real-world lizard can reproduce without being asexual or without a partner, there is no reason to believe that male demon's can't reproduce on their own. In fact, there is quite a lot of demonology in which a "male" demon is the sole or birthing parent.

In summary, your argument is a complete non sequitor, which relies on scant evidence and extremely faulty assumptions to make an outrageous claim. Furthermore, your editing format completely ignores the difference between "canon" and "uncanon", and the fact that you're complaining so about my moving the Dreamwave material down the page to its correct section is simply moronic.Glorious CHAOS! 08:42, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

The Soundtrack or Music of DMC Edit

Please give me a list of noteworthy/famous soundtracks so that I may start making their pages. :P --Silver Mage Ω 03:22, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

All I know of are the ones that already have articles. Devils Lair would have full soundtrack listings, I think.Glorious CHAOS! 06:21, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

I don't remember them being there actually. There are only a few download links, and only to "full" albums - no mention of other versions. Still, I can share some info I know:

  • I believe that in total there exists 4 full OSTs for each game, plus special soundtrack for DMC4 with selected tracks for game. There is also the Dangerous hits, a compilation of selected tracks from first three games. Other reference. Some other kinds of DMC soundtracks releases also appear in search results, but I don't know if they are official or not.
  • There, however, appear to be two versions of DMC4 OST. Look here and here. Don't know what that is... Maybe just a different cover?
  • Wikipedia... Complete with sources from Amazon.
  • Other sites with info on dmc... 1, 2

I hope that helps. I would like to do something myself, but I'm afraid I'm too tired lately to do that right.

P.S.: is a Russian site with English translation; still, some of ru text can appear there and there. You can ask my help if it is critical for understanding, Russian is my native after all :) Flia 20:05, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

Difficulty Mode, Music Pages, Music Sections Edit

Okay, let me clarify some things...

  1. You don't want me to make Difficulty Mode pages? (Difficulty Modes -> Devil Hunter Mode [Parenting])
  2. What track pages do you want me to make? (Ultra Violet, Lock and Load etc.)
  3. Do we make "Music" sections?

I need permission before I can totally dismantle "enhance" everything. It will take me a while because Exams + Christmas Party is next week. --Silver Mage Ω 11:07, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

Most musics will not have much to say about that couldn't be said in a discography table. Only the actual songs, which have lyrics and could have information about themes and conception, would need articles.
As far as I recall, only Dante/Vergil/Nero Must Die has been kept throughout the series, and it has still had some major variations. I think it would work best to have a section on each game's page discussing the Difficulty Modes, and have the page, (Dante Must Die for example), be a disambig to each of those sections.
It might be nice on each game's page to have a discography or music section going over who was chosen to compose, and what the intended themes or invoked emotions were. If anything has won awards, that would be good too, but I doubt it.Glorious CHAOS! 19:26, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
As I clearly do not have Devil May Cry 1, 2 and 3(because my PS2 is still broken), do you know of any sites which contain any info on the difficulty modes?
P.S. Also about "Adminship", what happened? Though I can still do without it, I'm curious. --Silver Mage Ω 08:58, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

I plan to split Chimera Seed and Chimera from Echidna's page. I kept a list of what used to link to 'Chimera Seed' and 'Chimera' just in case. Also, what is the new article going to be named? "Chimera Seed & Chimera", "Chimera & Chimera Seed" or simply "Chimera"? (Sorry 'bout my long signature.) --Silver Mage Ω 07:02, December 16, 2009 (UTC)
They're essentially just baby Echidna's, so I think they would fit best there. They're storyline and bios are tied up with Echidna as well.Glorious CHAOS! 07:19, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Could you make a rough outline (in code) for it? --Silver Mage Ω 06:45, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not really a skilled coder - both of the other wikis I'm on that have done such a revamp did it without my help. This and this are what I was basically describing though. If you see anything you like, I know who to contact about implementing them.Glorious CHAOS! 08:42, January 12, 2010 (UTC)
I really like those pictures that link at the digimon wiki and the placement of the featured article at both. Though if the featured article would be placed at the center, what do we put at the right column? (With the lack of any proof for a sequel, this wiki is dying.) --Silver Mage Ω 11:06, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

Re:DMC5 Edit

Ah, I see what you mean. The ones who developed Heavenly Sword are making Devil May Cry 5? I'm still kinda skeptical though. --Silver Mage Ω 04:21, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Abigail Edit

Hi, KrytenKoro, i'm kaname tousen that edited the abigail article. Where do you got those abigail information? Do you watched before the animated series or is it your friend that told you? i got the dvd for the series and the subtitle was correct, so it was abigail...Oh and is modeus not mundus, sorry

I watched the original Japanese, so I don't know what the new romanization is (haven't had a chance to buy the DVD yet). I'll revert the edit, it's just the Mundus bit made it seem incorrect.Glorious CHAOS! 05:42, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Skin and Tabs Edit

Hello, I edit on another wikia, and I'd really like to change the skin of the wiki that I edit and I would also like to adjust those tabs on the left of the page. So, could you tell me the name of those pages, please?(I'm asking you because you're an admin. :I)Judge Balthier 03:48, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

Devil Bringer Origin Edit

I'm the one that edited the devil bringer origin (the hand) is actually Nelo Angelo's.,. Source? It's from the Nero's article under the trivia section...thx for understanding

Ultimate Attacks Edit

You mean that every devil arms in DMC3 have their "ultimate" moves? I know that Agni & Rudra's is Ultimate Tempest, but can you list all the ultimate attacks in this message. It'll be very helpful to me...$$$ 12:29, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

If it's Swordmaster you're talking about, is Crazy Dance a ultimate move? And if you said that Million Stab is a ultimate attack, is Satellite, Million Slash, Jam Session and Hyper Fist counted? By the way thx for replying...

KrytenKoro Edit

I have been wondering this for a long time, how old are you and where are you from, KrytenKoro?KanameTousen 11:33, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not super comfortable with answering that, actually.Glorious CHAOS! 02:57, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

Question Edit

Hey, why are you reverting the page Dante to imageless versions?--Gobi-Aoi 13:49, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

Because that's the Plot section, not the gallery. There is an entire gallery linked at the top of the page.Glorious CHAOS! 22:47, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

Ultimate Tempest Edit

Once again, I need to discuss with you about this. Ultimate Tempest is not the version where you need to press the circle button rapidly to extend its time but rather press the triangle button. I'll give you the link so that you can understand more about it KanameTousen 03:10, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

Creation of some templates Edit

Madame, I hope you don't mind, but I made Template:Userbox and Template:Demo Infobox as template pages. The reason being, I need to run some testings to better improve some of the wiki's current templates. If you want to see the template tests, look here. I think you'll be rather pleased with what I've made. I may be wrong though. That's all for now. Au Revoir. Jacques le BlancReception Area 09:09, December 16, 2010 (UTC)

Follow-up: I'm still working on the other userboxes. I'll get right on them later. That's all. Jacques le BlancReception Area 09:11, December 16, 2010 (UTC)

Well, Mr/Ms. Angelo is gone, and based on what I read on his/her page, it seems like he/she won't be coming back any time soon. From the looks of things, it seems like you're the only superior present here. Others are either gone or have moved on to greener pastures. So, which userbox do you think is better, mines or Angelo's?
And about you, changing the userbox I made. Uhmm...How do I say this....The one's you have, the "DMC4 Dante Must Die/ Etc." uhmm....well...plain, and uhmm....lacking in awesomeness. A wiki for one of the games I have devoted countless hours to, deserves better. I'll show you what those userboxes can be. Just a wee bit later I'm afraid. I can't work properly due to certain circumstances, so I'll be able to make them boxes Monday.
Lastly, about the other two templates (the stub and the deletion) What's your opinion on them? That's all for now. Au Revoir, Madame. Jacques le BlancReception Area 04:08, December 18, 2010 (UTC)

Dumary Island & Uroboros Corp. Edit

Ok, really, I don't wanna start pointing a finger or just being "this guy". But some of the many people online & whatnot think that what some of you dudes done with other things on the wiki page like with takin' away the Uroboros City picture underneath both Dumary Island and Uroboros Corp. on purpose, is I don't know, kinda rediculious and unethical, and not too smart. But I seriously don't wanna get involved in this, so I recommened y'all might seriously return the Uroboros City JPEG to its original perfect form & back to where it belongs. That'll be great for all of us & all of you guys seriously. Thank you everybody, good day & have a pleasent tomorrow. Don't cha judge me! 21:53, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Those images are watermarked, and thus very nearly illegal to be here. If you upload them again, I will have to block you. Please produce copies of them by producing your own screenshots.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 21:59, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Images (watermarked or not) Edit

Alright I'm sorry about those watermarked images. Won't happen again. Ok? Don't cha judge me! 22:13, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Having images is fine (except when they are not useful, like the Order of the Sword Knights one), they just need to not be watermarked. I really appreciate the work you've been doing on the DMC2 articles.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 02:51, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

Images (watermarked or not) Edit

Thanks man. I appreciate your honesty as well as I loved what you done with the Kingdom Hearts wiki. 'cause to me, it seems like you got the whole thing under control, even sometimes without somebody's help, ya know I mean?

Favorite Enemies Edit

Ya know what are one of my most enemy characters is? the Demonochorus. Because these little 'angels' somewhat always reminded me of those "Children of the Damned" from Village of the Damned with these cold and eerie eyes. lol Don't cha judge me! 23:19, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Dumary Island Edit

Ok guys I recommend that the Uroboros City picture underneath both Dumary Island and Uroboros Corp. (only with screenshots or whatever) be back where it belongs including its original perfect form. Also with Dumary Island picture underneath Dumary Island. That'll be great for all of us & all of you guys seriously. Unfortunately I won't be able to help ya guys on that one though some of y'all or whatever have created a situation which is quite outta my complete jurisdiction & where you dudes can fix it on your own. But I can still help you guys out with anything in some other way I can. Thank you all for your understanding & happy New Year.

Vie de Marli Edit

Already made Vie de Marli its own sub-topic under Dumary Island. Now all we simply need for Vie de Marli is redirecting underneath Dumary Island. Don't cha judge me! 00:13, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

Exellent, guys. we have now solved the needy sub-topic/redirecting request for Vie de Marli under Dumary Island. Don't cha judge me! 00:03, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Where to Find Right Images Edit

I know where to get & collect images & Jpegs that are not watermarked: among many certain places and websites are Click.Proxy.Net, Gamespot,, Giantbomb and So you're all welcomed very much. & if ya asked me, it's because of years of research, babe. Don't cha judge me! 01:08, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

You really should stick to official images (promotional images from the official site) or images that you have ripped from the games yourself. You shouldn't take images from other sites without their permission.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 13:47, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Image violations [2]EditEdit

Look I'm sorry about what just happened at the other day with these images under Dumary Island. I didn't know these were watermarked. I just thought they were legal & perfectly safe. I mean for God's sakes, dude, I'm not the enemy, & I certainly am no criminal at all. Don't cha judge me! 21:57, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

& as for the 2 appropriate JPEGs (Dumary Island & Uroboros City) under Dumary Island, I won't be doin' that anymore as in now. Since its your problem in the first place, it's your responsibility now. & I won't be making that same mistake ever again, nor will I ever take the fall for anyone over anything rediculious as that. Thank you all for your understanding, good day & have a pleasent tomorrow. Don't cha judge me! 21:57, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

Uroboros Edit

I have one question I wanna ask ya: what ever happened to the section of the evil corporation Uroboros? It's no longer at Arius page, & to everyone else (mostly & especially the non-hippie types like myself), it seems totally unnecessary for it to be disappeared. Don't cha judge me! 21:03, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

It's been moved to the talk page for Dumary Island. The entire page needs a huge rewrite, so I am putting the notes there until I can finish it.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 21:59, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Notice about Upcoming Page Template ChangesEdit

Hello! I'm part of the Community Support Team at Wikia, and I want to let you know about an upcoming change that will affect this wiki.

This wiki is using a feature called CreatePlates, which is old and buggy and is being phased out. It is scheduled for removal from this wiki next Tuesday, March 29, 2011. This change will not affect the appearance of the wiki or any of its content.

It will, however, affect the templating options members see when they create new pages.

To help you manage this transition, we've set up our more current templating tool, LayoutBuilder, to allow you to pre-build new layouts before CreatePlates is disabled. LayoutBuilder is slightly different than CreatePlates in that it lets you create highly structured page layouts that maintain their shape over time. If you'd like to see it fully in action, you can try it out on our test wiki, which allows anyone to create new templates. (Users will be able to access your new LayoutBuilder templates as soon as CreatePlates is turned off.)

Another thing you may want to adjust is your "Standard Template" page, which will be an additional option presented to users when they create new pages. Standard Template is different from LayoutBuilder templates-- it's just a content starting point for an otherwise normal, non-templated page. You can change the appearance of your Standard Template at MediaWiki:Newpagelayout.

You can also choose not to worry about this, and do nothing. That's fine, too. Members will still be able to create new pages in whatever style they want -- they just won't have templates to choose from.

Please be sure to let your community members know about this coming change. If you have any questions, you can get in touch with me here, on my talk page, or through Special:Contact. Thanks for maintaining such a wonderful wiki!

Mundus Sealed within where? Edit

Here's a question. Where was Mundus sealed away in? The guide said he was sealed with in the underworld.

The manuel guide said he was sealed with in a vault. Some say he was sealed with in the giant statue in the large room at the beginning of the game. So which one is it? And what was his true form?

Just in the Underworld. He's roaming around there happy as a junebug in Devil May Cry 3, and that's his first chronological appearance in the series.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 00:22, April 9, 2011 (UTC)
Oh. then what was the purpose for the giant statue then?

Vergil/Lorenzo similarities Edit

Well, this is what we have on the trivia of the Clock Tower wiki, which explains how Lorenzo is similar to Vergil [3].

"Young Lorenzo B bears a strong resemblance to Vergil from Devil May Cry. Lorenzo is also similar in terms of personality and goals. Both had similar hair styles and facial structures, were a blood relative of the protagonists (Vergil was the twin brother of Dante and Lorenzo was the grandfather of Fiona), betrayed their own family members/allies with no remorse, and had become obsessed over a family member's source of power (Vergil became obsessed over his father Sparda's sword, Force Edge/Sparda and his mother Eva's amulet, believing it would make his demonic power complete while Lorenzo was obsessed over the Azoth, believing it would make him immortal) to the point where they would even kill the protagonists (Dante from Devil May Cry and Fiona from Haunting Ground) to acquire it should the need arise. Finally, the two characters also had histories and falls from grace that were left largely ambiguous. Both Haunting Ground and Devil May Cry were made by the same company, Capcom."

And here's a video showing extreme physical resemblance (this actually freaked me out how much he looked like Vergil the first time I played this game on hard mode [4] (skip to about 2:51). —Jiyanamiki 04:55, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Other than his hairstyle, he doesn't look that much the same - his face is shaped quite differently.
I'm not quite sure where Vergil betrays Dante, though - they weren't actually on the same team except for the Arkham fight, and that was begrudgingly. While they're family, there's no real illusion that that ever meant very much (although Dante does cry at the end, I guess).
The "ambiguous" bit seems pretty uninformative; I honestly can't see how it applies to Vergil, though, unless you count Vergil becoming Nelo Angelo at the end.

"The character of Lorenzo, from Haunting Ground, is quite similar to Vergil. Like Vergil, he is a relative of the protagonist who is obsessed with obtaining an artifact of power that his relative possesses (the Sparda and Perfect Amulet for Vergil, and the Azoth for Lorenzo), and even tries to kill his relative to acquire it. Furthermore, they both have the same hairstyle."

(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 05:58, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that's much better. Do you want to add it to the trivia section of the article? By the way, do you mind if I tweak the main page a little bit? I think it would look a little better with some pictures/picture icons as you can see on this wiki page (this is a wiki I have adopted) or this one, —Jiyanamiki 19:29, April 17, 2011 (UTC)
You can add it, if you want. Should probably add w: links too.
For the main page, I suppose you could use one of the end-game reward images. No fanart, though.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 22:01, April 17, 2011 (UTC)
Nope, no fanart. I'll just edit it a little bit and see what you think. If you like that, I'll edit it a little more. —Jiyanamiki 02:18, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Like this? (smaller, bigger, different pic...?) —Jiyanamiki 02:44, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
It would seem like the "Welcome to the Devil May Cry Wiki!" bit should be on the image, and the logo to the right seems unneeded.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 04:20, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Quotes for articles Edit

How about adding some quotes for the starting lines of articles; Here's what I recommend

Devil Bringer - That arrogant kid possesses d-d-d-demonic power!

Hell Gate - I know this thing is a major cultural artifact, but it's bad for the community.

Red Queen - This is the best battle partner a swordsman can handle!

Savior - A human, posing as god?

Yamato - That sword used to seperate our world from the demons

This article has been closed for thorough cleanup. Try again later - Sorry pal, we're closed.

What happened to Chrono Slicer? Edit

I have current problems as of 5/14/2011 2:15 PM (in my country time) that the CHRONO SLICER page has problems.

  • The first time I created it, the page and my username did not appear on the Recent Wiki Activity list.
  • The page was not included in the articles (still 321).
  • The quotes for the picture I used turned to Bold Style including my username.
  • However, when you search the page, it appears

I'm not quite sure what the problems are - are you using wiki-coding to edit, or using the Rich Text Editor?(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 07:41, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Advice for more pages Edit

DMC Wiki pages are still few! (322 pages as of 5/15/2011) Here are some advices to produce more pages:

  • The Items in the game including Devil Bringer upgrades are grouped into one page. There are plenty of them, right? If they could just be distributed into individual pages.
  • There are plenty of Locations in Devil May Cry. Perhaps Fortuna can be distributed into several pages, we never seen Advent Circle and Mitis Forest... YET. (All areas of DMC4 were grouped in the Fortuna page)
  • Maybe we can include additional characters; those Templar-looking guards commanded by Credo on the opening of Devil May Cry 4.
  • Maybe we can add enemy weapons, like the Scarecrow 'Executioner' blades that Nero once stole.
  • Gameplay: Taunts, and Speed, or being frozen in ice
  • Quotes: Abandon all Hope - The Gameover screen
  • Mission Menu
  • Turbo Mode and DMC4 Automatic Mode

KevzMarz 07:28, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

There is no need to create new pages for the sake of it.
Devil Bringer items have no use beyond upgrading the Devil Bringer. They do not need their own page.
Same with locations -- it is more difficult to read about a location if all its peaces are distributed.
We can certainly mention the people, but only in the context of "townspeople of fortuna". They do not need their own pages.
No, that fits with the Scarecrow page.
Taunts could use a page, as could Speed, I think. Status effects, I don't think they're area enough of them, but if you want to start a draft in your userspace, you can.
We don't need a page for every quote.
Mission Menu - nothing about it that cannot be put on the main game page.
I don't remember what those two modes are, but they can go on the Game Mode page too.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 08:18, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Where are the Gallery Images for Devil Bringer? Edit

As of 5:14 PM 5/15/2011, where are the Devil Bringer Gallery Images, there were 6 of them last hour I think...

KevzMarz 09:15, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

You guys started just putting in every image you could find, so I moved it to a Gallery page.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 20:14, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

DMC4 walkthroughs are a mess! Edit

Look at the DMC4 Walkthroughs, some of them are missing information

M01 - Incomplete Table, without a picture. Some texts are hidden, look at Dante's moves.

M04 - Really a stub, different from other walkthroughs

If only we could add more pictures and information...

You are correct, sir!(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 04:01, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

Recommendations as of 5/16 Edit

Here are some of my recommendations as of May 16:

  • Mind checking the Speed, Automatic Mode, and the Taunts articles?
  • Seperate the Credo and Agnus humans with their demon forms
  • Maybe we could use background images found at the Fortuna page
  • If possible, maybe we can change the background color to Violet
  • Try setting the article page colors to black, then the texts as white. This was what I seen in hardcore games like Tekken, Left 4 Dead and God of War in their Wikis
  • Maybe you could add the DMC Anime in the Game Series Tab

KevzMarz 10:07, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

Lotsa contributions this day Edit

Ah yes, this day (5/16) DMC Wiki now has 620 images and 327 articles. With new Gallery, sections, and Categories. But I wonder, why are their few editors here? It would be nice if we see more edits by different contributors. Look at GTA Wiki, a page gets edited every minute.

New Pages:

  • Status Effects
  • Automatic Mode
  • Taunts
  • Speed

New Category:

  • Weapons of Nero

New Images:

  • 2 images on Devil Bringer
  • 2 Images added on Gauges
  • A new image on Taunts
  • A new image on Trickster Style

  • Applied Weapons of Nero to his weapons
  • Trivias on Royalguard Style
  • Fixed some articles

Missing - Needed Information

  • References are missing on:
    • Automatic Mode
    • Status Effects
    • Speed
    • Taunts
    • Gyro Blade
    • Grim Grip
    • Dice Game

The fact is - I don't know how to add References, they were hidden in Edit Mode

Is there a MvC3: Fate of 2 Worlds page? Edit

Look, yesterday, I have added a new page to the Wiki; namely Devil May Cry 4 Refrain - It's a special import of DMC4 to a handheld (the iPhone).

I also added Dante's Motorcycle which is barely complete, without a full detail of the motorcycle. It is known to do 360 degrees of spinning at fast speed? Please have time to check it out.

Now I'm planning to add a new page: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, cause I have seen Viewtiful Joe and Shin Megumi Tensei where Dante once appeared. But regarding lots of links found in most of Dante and Trish Pages about the MvC game, is there one made already?

Another recommendation - look at them other Wikis, God of War Wiki included REAL LIFE characters, like the director of the game and the voice lenders. In GTA Wiki, they added TERMINOLOGIES, like Involuntary Ejection, antagonist, protagonist, and vehicle damage etc... (which was not found on any part of the game - only a gamer's observation). Maybe we could add some also...

KevzMarz 05:17, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

No part of this wiki is allowed to have speculation or unreliable sources, so we can't make articles for stuff like "antagonist". However, the DMC1 guide, and the newest issue of Nintendo Power both have interviews with Hideki Kamiya, and the guide has interviews with other parts of the staff. I only have the guide, so I can try to add info from that, but to make "real people" pages, they would need to be distinct from their wikipedia page—they would need to have material specific to DMC that isn't covered on the wikipedia page.
You can go ahead and start a page on MvC3, but like our Viewtiful Joe and SMT coverage, it has to focus on the DMC portion of the game—it will basically be a page about "DMC content in MvC3", not a page about MvC3 itself.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 05:41, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Can DMC Wiki be upgraded? Edit

I've been wondering... compared to GTA Wiki, DMC Wiki needs more upgrades! Here's what I recommend

  • GTA Wiki's editing capabilities are high. Even capable of editing large articles with the Rich Text Editor (HTML-like editor).
  • They have more templates, including templates displayed on editing.
  • More notices, and messages displayed on editing
  • They have Sandbox
  • Their policy is counted as one article on the list.

From other Wikis

  • Command and Conquer Wiki (cnc.wikia)'s background theme doesn't move, making the background constant, and the page itself only moves.
  • New background images?

Maybe DMC Wiki can be upgraded these ways. I look forward wanting to see a new DMC Wiki. But I do not want to be an Admin due to slow Internet Connection.

KevzMarz 12:48, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

The Rich Text Editor rips up the coding of the pages, and is really a negative feature. However, your other ideas are reasonable, so if you want to create some rough drafts, feel free.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 22:21, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

While you were away for 2 weeks Edit

Hi, while you were not logging in for the past 2 weeks in DMC Wiki, we have contributed much to the pages, here are some of them:

  • Addition of Traps Category - the environmental hazards that can hinder your progress (although DMC4 traps are only added)
  • Addition of voice actors, director, and company (REAL LIFE pages)
  • Addition of missing pictures for articles - Articles lacking photos have been fixed, see Hell Gate, Human World, and DMC Manga
  • Reversion of vandalism (e.g. wrong-spelling, wrong grammar, no connection to the subject have been fixed) - However, the DMC4 walkthroughs are still messy, some of them lack photos, missing lines, and look at M14 and M15, they have no information at all!
  • Added real trivias, which can be proven
  • Addition of extra photos
  • Fixed some Non-DMC Information
  • Provided redirect pages

You know, DMC Wiki will still improve when DMC 5 is launched!

About the Bayonetta Pages Edit

You know what, there have been vandalisms on DMC Wiki on June 1! The Bayonetta Pages. Here are some bad information, these pages must be deleted quickly!

  • The Bayonetta pages do not show connections to DMC as written in the articles
  • Some pages are really vandalized! Wrong codes, Wrong text, incorrect grammar
  • And worst of all, they have been copied from another wiki with exact information (Copy-Pasted).

Come on, you must delete those Bayonetta Pages, these pages will just mess up the Wiki.

The nice background Edit

File:Fortuna Castle.png
Ok, look at this image posted on the wiki (Fortuna), I think it's a nice background for this wiki.KevzMarz 04:02, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

Achievements Add-on (+ article reports) Edit

Can Achievements be added on DMC Wiki?

Also, on the Berial The Conqueror of Fire Hell and Griffon pages, one contributor (A Wikia Contributor) has added (or merged) another language to the pages, which means English + other language merged into one article information. I have already fixed those pages, but I don't know if these were vandalism or not. Anyway I have not reverted the action, just re-edited it. Although in the Berial page, there were no references yet.KevzMarz 06:24, June 3, 2011 (UTC)

I will take charge as an admin Edit

Um, can you give me admin abilities, I will try to take charge of the wiki. (Even through it was ironic when I said I don't want to be an admin before) - KevzMarz 08:11, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

Please delete Bayonetta Pages Edit

You know, I think I have sent this a second time. An anon user has been trying to merge Bayonetta into Devil May Cry Wiki. I know it is a game from Hideki Kamiya, but the worst thing is that he copy-pasted things from Bayonetta Wiki into these wiki. You can delete these pages including the files related to Bayonetta;

  • Bayonetta (video game)
  • Bayonetta (character)
  • Cereza
  • Jeanne
  • Jubeilius
  • + Files related to Bayonetta

Quick Things and Questions.

  1. How do you take a snapshot of the DMC game?
  2. We need to have more featured articles - I have seen Credo is the only featured one.

KevzMarz 05:43, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

If you have certain kinds of emulators, you can take screenshots on your PC. If you want screenshots of the cutscenes, then download the cutscene from a fansite, and use your video program (I use VLC) to take the screenshot.
Devil Bringer should be good to be featured, if you can add some citation to the lead using the notes in the game. Echidna is also good.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 05:52, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
But when I tried using the PrntScrn key and pasted it on MS Paint, a large black box was copied. However, I was also able to locate the folder containing the videos but it was large, resulting into a Low-Definition video.
That sounds like an issue with your computer, then. Sorry. If you link me to the video you're trying to screencap, and tell me which second you want screencapped, I can try doing it on my end.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 06:40, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

I'll be adding more things to Patty LowellEdit

I wouldn't mind being an admin on here, but that's your choice.

It's good to be back on here. What I wanted to say is that, I think Patty Lowell needs an image gallery thing on here as I have saved alot of images of her already. So can I? I'll have a look now and see if it needs to be added. Thank you. :)

She can have a gallery, but make sure each image has a purpose. Don't just upload fifteen random screenshots from each episode, basically.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 14:14, October 14, 2011 (UTC)

Update Community messages Edit

Mind updating the Community Messages? There are now 3 (or 4?) admins active every week, because the message in the Recent Wiki Activity, does not suit the wiki's status since the mentioned admins are more than 2.

"New" planEdit

Sure I'll help. If I manage to tear myself from Skyrim. You see how long it took for me to reply? Exactly.

On a more serious note, I really like how you manage your pics on KH wiki, so, sure, go ahead. I even thought about creating some kind of "image naming policy" help page, which implements something like that. My signature is NOT short! 09:28, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Kryten, really, stop apologizing. Not because it is getting mildly annoying, but because we all understand. Just for your interest, most of us have a life too you know. Library Refs Edit

That's a bit of a tall order, to check all the refs in the games, but I can certainly take a look at it. -Anobi 03:21, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

DmC Weapon Skills Edit

I'd just like to say that I can vouch for the validity in the names and inputs for skills in DmC, like for Osiris and such. I've literally poured over gameplay videos and streams, and read and talked to people about their playtime with the game, especially my buddy who got to play it as well. If something is wrong or updated, I of course change it, like originally they used "[Weapon] Combo A" for a while, until finally locking in names for all the skills. Trust me when I say there's no speculation when it comes to those movelists. Derekoe|Hot-blooded God of Guns| (talk) 01:57, October 24, 2012 (UTC)

Speculation, in a general sense, isn't the problem. The problems are:
  1. No one else can verify these. One of the pillars of a wiki is that the info in it is verifiable, if not explicitly cited; even if Jesus himself vouched for it, a wiki editor wouldn't be responsible in claiming it as absolute fact. Even if you're 100% right, everyone else has to just trust your word, and that's a dangerous attitude for wiki editors to develop for anybody.
  2. There is no guarantee that any of these moves will see the light of day in the final release. It's very likely, after all, but there's no guarantee.
  3. All the other movelists use the official descriptions from the games; your stuff can't use that, and is instead personal impression and analysis. We also don't know what the official "order" of the attacks are.

I'm not saying your work is worthless by any means: it'll be extremely useful when the game comes out. It's just that it's an inaccurate and dangerous method to treat pre-release information as any more than possibilities, and it would be more responsible to keep the movelists as drafts on the talk page or on your userpage.

I don't edit here anymore, so it's ultimately up to the current admins as to whether it's okay to do this stuff. However, these are my observations based on the time I've spent working on wikipedia and various other wikis, and some common sense. If something turns out to be wrong, the wiki will probably be corrected eventually, but in my experience it's more difficult to ferret out that stuff when it's been on the articles already for a long time, and I've always preferred to leave a reader lacking information than possessing false information, so I don't like posting anything that isn't absolutely 100% guaranteed to be true and easily verified by others.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 02:52, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
I can understand that. Iv'e just gathered so much information and sifted through so much, I'm rather invested in things here on the wiki. While I can't give any definitive source on controls because its all spoken information from people playing the game (although some is seen in tutorials). I've also been keeping an eye on all the things I've ever added as well, so there really isn't a lot of worry of the wiki being left with incomplete or incorrect information upon release, since I'm definitely picking this game up, and will be adding and updating information. But yeah, like you said it's up to the other admins I suppose. Godspeed in your ventures! Derekoe|Hot-blooded God of Guns| (talk) 03:14, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
And that's the other part of your suggestion: by all means I want you writing this stuff. Don't get the wrong impression here. I'm just worried that it might not be appropriate to publish it to the mainspace yet...I myself keep a lot of notes from the games in my userspace (see User:KrytenKoro/DMC3 Notes, for example).(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:18, October 24, 2012 (UTC)

Game Guides AppEdit

Greetings KrytenKoro!

Wikia is excited to launch our Game Guides app very soon. The app features access to tens of thousands of wikis and their excellent content. As a popular wiki with a treasure trove of information, we think the Devil May Cry wiki would be a great candidate for one the first curated games on the app! But first, we need your help. The Game Guide apps thrives on excellent categorization and a little bit of admin curation. Visit this page to learn more about curating your presense on the Game Guide app:

DmC Quicklinks Edit

I was just curious as to why you removed the DmC quicklinks? I thought they were very useful. --Anobi (talk) 02:47, January 29, 2013 (UTC)

We already had "c" which does the same thing with one template, and can also be used to add any desired parser.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 19:36, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, but, 1) there are way more keystrokes involved in the C template, and the initial goal of the quicklinks was to cut down on that, 2) there's only one working example on that template, the others are useless, 3) it's not as new-user friendly as it requires more advanced knowledge of wikitext, 4) it isn't categorized anywhere and you can only find it if you already know it exists and know how to use it. Additionally, the code is wasteful, as it assumes each game has is own set of identically named articles that need differentiation, and it uses all lower-case letters to differentiate the articles, making DmC easily confusable for DMC. I'm sorry, but I just don't see how this is in any way superior to what we already had implemented. Perhaps we could keep both, and see which one the community prefers? -- Anobi (talk) 05:56, January 30, 2013 (UTC)
STEAMYGORENG - This guy are sick!
TALK - 08:12, January 30, 2013 (UTC)

yeah, I agree with Anobi. Just a while ago, i mass edited the SM walkthrough of DmC just to replace Dante DmC with the new one (which i already forgot how to write). I sure hope nobody deletes:

= a link to DmC: Devil May Cry (DmC: Devil May Cry)

DmC = a regular "linkless" DmC: Devil May Cry (DmC: Devil May Cry)
for subsequent uses on the same article)
There are three two more keystrokes (the c and the |). It also requires no extra knowledge of wikitext, since is just the same acronym as the other templates used (which you can type as "DmC").
The code is much, much shorter than the combined code of a template for every parsed article.
Then add the desired category to the template, that's not a mechanical issue.
It works for any parser, not just the ones auto-programmed. It also accepts any page title. Ex: Sparda, Devil May Cry 3.
The character specific templates have just as much potential to cause confusion with editors not familiar with the template.
The other two templates have the same naming format as our navbox templates, and there is absolutely no need for them. The game tile isn't some long thing involving piped links, like "devil may cry (game)|dmc: special xbox edition", it's very short and straightforward. If the community really does demand a shortlink for something that straightforward, it needs to have a name unlike the navbox templates, and they should go ahead and create one for all the other serials that really are difficult to type, like the manga or comics.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 16:54, January 30, 2013 (UTC)
Well, honestly, it does require a greater knowledge of wikitext. Just because this is childs' play to you doesn't mean it's clearly understood by everyone. I'm still confused as to why there are parameters for every game. Additionally, the way it links to the manga (in your example) makes it look exactly like a link to DMC3, which is a detriment in my book. It should look like a piped link: Devil May Cry 3 manga. Maybe I should add template links for the manga and comics;I think that's long overdue. Thanks for the suggestion! You really think the titles are close to the navboxes, though? Dante DmC looks (to me, anyway) significantly different from NTDMC. -- Anobi (talk) 03:10, January 31, 2013 (UTC)
Lookydo: "Devil May Cry 3 manga". As for having parameters for every game - because it took about a second to code. They can easily be removed or replaced with more useful parsers if desired. They're options. This template can be used to simulate any parsed/piped link as desired.
Vergil DmC
is not noticeably different beyond two extra characters, and I'm not seeing where it requires any additional knowledge of wikitext. Can you explain what wikitext you're seeing?(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 06:14, January 31, 2013 (UTC)
We can argue back and forth all we want, but we have a 3rd party opinion right here that says there's no harm in having both. That having been said; Vergil DmC is one "word" that is easily associated with one article, "Vergil (DmC)." Someone looking at the code can clearly see that this series of squiggly lines and letters equals a link to Vergil (DmC) that just looks like Vergil. Vergil requires the editor to know that the article title is not actually one name but two. They have to know or otherwise figure out that the "(DmC)" portion of "Vergil (DmC)" is switchable, and to know that the function of the "c|" prefix is to add it to the end of the root name; in this case, "Vergil". In effect, it's using a sentence to create a link, while the quicklink template was/is analogous to just a word. (The c| code also looks suspiciously similar to a piped link, which may also confuse new editors? Or maybe it's just my dunce brain at work.) While this may not be an issue for seasoned Wiki coders, casual editors probably won't bother with figuring out the syntax of the code. Though, I guess it could be assumed that some editors will just copy/paste the code without bothering to figure it out? Anyway, I kind of got the original idea for the "quicklinks" from the MS Paint Adventures wiki. They do use different colors and incorporate images into the names of some characters, while our wiki does not, (yet.)
And, as far as I'm concerned, "Devil May Cry 3" is no different from using a piped link, which kind of defeats the purpose of a quicklink. :\ -- Anobi (talk) 05:10, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
By that merit, there's no harm in having alternate named copies of every template. "C" allows you to auto-drop the parser on any parsed article link, with exactly two more characters than the quicklink formats you already had, and doesn't require you to look up which quicklink templates already exist. The template page also explains how the code works, and better explanation can be added if needed. Meanwhile, the quicklink templates would have to be created for each parsed article, and then users would have to look up which ones exist (don't forget, I am a seasoned wiki editor, and I had to go check the category to see what options there were for the current quicklinks. With C, I have the power to determine the target article all on my own, without having to memorize which templates have already been created.)
The point of a parser is to be switchable. By all rights, the classic articles should also be parsed, like is done on most other wikis, and "Vergil" should redirect to a disambig.
Yes, it's no different than using a piped link, because the phrase you're asking for would have to be that long (to be fair, that specific formulation, although strange, would be a good candidate if we needed a game-title quicklink). However, if you were just giving the title instead of making sure to specify that it's a manga every time, it makes it way easier.
I've seen that template in use on three other wikis, and I've never seen or heard anyone having trouble with it. Certain wikia setups also automatically notify editors of optional parameters. If you want to run a test, then let's encourage people to use "C" for a month, and ask them afterward whether they had more trouble using C or the multitude of quicklink templates...though, to make that fair, we should go ahead and create quicklink templates for every parsed article ahead of time.
The C| thing is the name of the template. That's how every template with parameters works. If that's tripping up an editor, they're going to be having problems with much more important things on the page.
If this wiki attempts to become a comedy wiki by inserting the colors and images, then just to be frank, I'd not be coming back. I mean, if that's what the community decides to do, then fine, but I'd be gone.(ಠ_ೃ)Bully! 05:39, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
"Parsing" all the articles would be stupid. Yes, we only had some quicklinks, but that was mostly due to my own reservations abou coding. Also, it would be much better for you to ask the community for their input on major changes before you run through here like a bull in a china shop. Being and admin doesn't give us carte blanche to do what we please; we should still seek the opinions of other editors. Just because what we have is different from other wikis, doesn't make it wrong, even if the code isn't up to your personal standards. When I get some spare time, I will reinstate the quicklinks and write up a blog post about how to use them and the c| links. Then we can get some community input on it, which is what we should have done in the first place. -- Anobi (talk) 06:33, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
It would be no more "stupid" than having quicklinks. The quicklinks exist to make the coding simpler for certain parsed articles, so logically, do it for all of them. We have more than enough. The classic versions of the articles should also logically be parsed, especially since the DmC versions have no indication of being a one-note thing.
I deleted the quicklink templates because they were redundant, to a template that was more versatile and required less memorization, which is not a major change. If the anger is because the old templates have been left in on some article, I can run AWB to remove that. Hell, I could run it for every parsed article we have, so no one has to bother with the "c" template except on new text. If I remember correctly, I also discussed the "c" template with you and Flia last year over IRC.
The very first time you suggested that we seek community input on this, I agreed we should do what the community decided, and later suggested the month thing as a test. Otherwise, I've been correcting your misconceptions about how the "c" template works, like the claim that it adds a ton of extra characters.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 18:13, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Images? Edit

May I ask as to why a ton of my images were just deleted then ones that looks of lesser quality uploaded in their place? -=X Zero X=- 02:33, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

1) Bad names 2) Not lesser quality 3) White background is preferable, as it meshes with our skin color.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:06, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
If you want to upload the larger images (although we need to know what your source for them was, as mine were from the official site), then they need to have standardized names, white (or fully transparent) backgrounds, and be either gif or preferably png. The larger images you had uploaded, while, well, larger, had grey backgrounds that ended up making the images really difficult to decipher and just look ugly contrasting with our skin, while the largeness of the images didn't really become apparent because they were displayed at the same ratio as the old images.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:11, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
The names were fine they were the names of the actual creature/character, the quality was better in the black/grey ones regardless if it suits the skin or not. The ones you are reverting to are poorly cut and look horrid. as for a source I am the source, I am an Official Capcom Admin/Moderator. -=X Zero X=- 03:15, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
The ones with half-transparencies are from the official DMC3 site, and I'll be revising them to have white backgrounds.
As for quality, if the image is displayed such that it is indistinguishable from the official images, and in addition has an ugly background, it is inferior. If its background can be fixed, then sure, it's the superior image. Otherwise, it's not a useful image. We don't need the images to be larger just for the sake of it if it doesn't make the articles look nicer, since all we're accomplishing then is increased data that the page has to load.
"Gluttony", "Hell Greed", "Beowulf" were all misnamed.
By that, do you mean that you created these images yourself? We need more than "I'm official", we need to know where these came from. If we're using images that are not the officially released ones, then the image description pages should give an account of where the image came from, who created it, etc.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:24, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

I'm official as in I work for Capcom Check the stamp on the profile. I was give permission to post the images for public use on the wiki, So they are official Images they were just not released to the public until I posted them and now you have reverted them and deleted them. -=X Zero X=- 03:30, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not disputing that you work for Capcom. I'm saying, for example are these production stills? Were they created for internal promotion of the game? That question needs to be answered, and then stated on the image description page. Here is a good example of what the image description pages should be like (albeit from a different wiki).
The images that I have reverted were from black background to white background, and have no difference in quality beyond the cut of the transparency, which I've already stated I will be fixing tonight. The images that I deleted, you are free to reupload them if you can do so with white or fully transparent backgrounds. As I stated earlier the images are used on articles on this wiki. On those articles, the increased size of the file did not have an effect on the article, since the image was still displayed at the same size—all it did was add to the datasize of the page, and where the backgrounds were not white, clash with the article. I appreciate your contributions, really I do, but we still need to make sure the articles look professional.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:35, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

Closest thing for Licensing Wiki has for these images would be "This file is copyrighted. The copyright holder has given permission for its use.", as for some of the images I had uploaded they were not rendered with clear of white backgrounds as they were not meant for public release originally since they are all internal images. And as you can see I just uploaded all white background ones for you -=X Zero X=- 03:58, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
Don't use Licensing Wiki, although you can base your description on it. Like I pointed to, type up something more informative as done on the tfwiki image description page. Thanks!(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 04:00, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

Question Edit

Hey Kryten, I was wondering where this could go.

Hail to the King baby! (talk) 19:02, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

Does it need to go anywhere?(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 20:47, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
I suppose it could be used in the Devil May Cry shop article to illustrate the pool table, though a screenshot from DMC3 would be better and more interesting.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 00:30, February 25, 2013 (UTC)
Understood sir.Hail to the King baby! (talk) 00:34, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Listen sir. I cannot emphasize this enough. I hope not to annoy you or anything, I am just trying to help in any way possible and since I cannot write that well(as shown by my fanon), I am only able to get these images for you which suck or are out of place in every meaning of the word. What I am trying to say is, I am sorry. Hail to the King baby! (talk) 02:43, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

So. Edit

So, from your comments, you do not enjoy DmC:Devil May Cry either?

Hail to the King baby! (talk) 22:00, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

I enjoyed it, I'm just fed up with all the blowhards waving off valid critiques with bs like "you just haven't played it" or "you're a hater obsessed with the classic series who only cares about dante's hair color" or "its the best in the series and fixes all of the crappy classic series mistakes". Dmc is objectively and quantifiably a worse-designed, worse-written game compared to at least dmc3 and 1, likely 4 as well, and objectively failed in its stated goal of being a "refreshing change in the series that would improve the presentation and be more acceptable to non-devoted gamers". And it annoys me when the "pros" go beyond saying that the game was worthwhile to outright warping the truth.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 23:26, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

A fair-use Licence for using the images I post Edit

I have been trying to word this as best as I can so I do not get in trouble by legal lol and this is what I have come up with which should be fine.

This is a promotional image or artwork of "Insert Character/Place/Item Name here" created by Capcom Japan, Capcom US, or Capcom Europe for Insert Game Name Here.

Because such photos are created specifically to promote Video Games, Toys, Digital Video Discs, Compact Discs and Various Written Material, Devil May Cry Wiki asserts that an implicit public license exists for them and using such images to illustrate those products constitutes an act of good faith

Regardless the above, Devil May Cry Wiki's use of promotional images or artwork to document and illustrate a product or character on Devil May Cry Wiki would always fall under the fair use provision of United States copyright law.

Let me know what you think. -=X Zero X=- 08:13, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

That's way more than I ever do, honestly. I usually just put something like "Image of X taken from Y. Used under fair use policy." But wow, that's pretty legit.
I would copy this to a template named something like "License", so when you're pasting it you just have to do "subst:license|subject|source". Some corrections have been made.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 02:40, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

STEAMYGORENG - This guy are sick!
TALK - 23:29, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, im sorry Kim Jong Un of this wiki. I wasn't
aware that there was an existing review with that term being used then.
I removed it because I couldn't find any THEN. But it appears that there is one now.
Please forgive and don't nuke me.

PS.  an actual quote from the WIKIPEDIA page

Many within the African-American community in the United States now express unhappiness about
the ongoing use of such magical characters. In 2001, Spike Lee, while discussing films with students at
Washington State University and at Yale University, said he was dismayed at Hollywood's decision to
continue using the premise; he noted the 2000 film The Legend of Bagger Vance now used the "super-duper magical Negro".
In a Sept. 26, 2012, essay in TIME about President Obama's re-election, author and TV personality
Touré argued: "While some may think it complimentary to be considered 'magical,' it is infantilizing
and offensive because it suggests black excellence is so shocking it can only come from a source that is supernatural."

STEAMYGORENG - This guy are sick!
TALK - {time}

I also have no plan on forgiving someone who pins that the only reason I removed that is because I thought the term Magic Negro was racist. Didn't you read my reason for removing that "After searching Phineas + Magic Negro on Google, you'll find out that no such review exists. Racist scumbag who added that, you should be trapped in Limbo!"

At that time, I couldn't find the review so I accordingly removed that content. Understood? Or do you only speak in nuke terms?

STEAMYGORENG - This guy are sick!
TALK - {time}

Okay. Just to put a stop to this. It was a pun (not the "racist scumbag" part but "you should be trapped in Limbo" part). And at that time, I really thought that the term MAGIC NEGRO was racist. I'm sorry for not growing up on your country and not knowing that the term magic negro (no matter how offensive it is considered by the black community as pointed out by the wikipedia page) wasn't actually racist.

STEAMYGORENG - This guy are sick!
TALK - {time}

Okay, Just seriously shut up. You really gonna dig up that issue until you prove that I was wrong. I already admitted that I didn't know that it wasn't a racist term. My mistake. Here, again, are the points I already made

1. I thought the term was racist
2. I couldn't find a review saying that MN term
3. I thought the editor was making that up, therefore me calling him a racist scumbag.
Note that there wasn't even a source
and I was editing in VISUAL mode
so i didn't see your fancy <!-- NOTE -->

Understood? And, do you know how many actual editors here will see my remark? I'm guessing less than the actual editors who even know how to go to the talk page of that page. But you had to bring it up. Nice job! I don't know if you have noticed, but you really have an attitude that some users find annoying (reasons why they, I included, left). Just look at the comments on the "DmC sales lower ..." or "Petition..."

STEAMYGORENG - This guy are sick!
TALK - 04:54, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Hell yeah, i have a problem with your behavior, that's why I left this wiki. But I don't want to dig it up for others to see because I don't want to make a scene unlike you who digs up a month and a half old issue just for the sake of proving that you are the master of perfectness and others make mistakes, or mistake for this matter, and must be punished.

I know you can figure out what is wrong with your attitude. After all, you're so good at looking up on others'.

<not sarcasm>Oh my god. I am so scared. I am getting banned on the DMC wiki. How the hell am I going to live the rest of my life without being able to edit an article on the internetz.</not sarcasm> Go ahead. As I've said before, I already left this wiki, I'm just answering to your constant blabber.  sΓΣamyGoreng 05:16, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. Just ban me. I dont really care at this point. You don't need to notify me. If you dont ban me now, I will continue harrasing people in this wiki bacause I have nothing better to do. Also, I have not done nothing good for this wiki, like that secret mission pages for DmC. All in all, i have done more Trolling than actual contributing sΓΣamyGoreng 05:40, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

I know we talked on IRC but I wanted to post here just so there's a record of it. Now, please, chillax. You made your point to Steamygoreng and he handled it...rather poorly, but people will do that and we have to let it roll off our backs. We can't demand that editors do anything; they're not little children. If you felt what he said warranted an apology, then it probably would have been best for you to have taken on the responsibility of apologizing on behalf of the wiki. And if he feels like he needs to have the last word, let him. There's nothing to be gained from continuing a juvenile pissing contest over who has the larger dick edit count. So relax, take a breath, and keep it Ssstylish! -- Anobi (talk) 07:13, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Moving Edit

I knew that, but having damn near a year off of Wikia took its toll. Thanks for the reminder (even though I managed to do it on the Dead Space wiki (but seriously, thanks)) though. DR 02:40, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Spelling Edit

As I'm British, should I use the American dictionary when I'm spellchecking the pages? DR 17:45, April 2, 2013 (UTC)

for the classic series, its designed as an "american" game, so american spelling would be appropriate. For the reboot, you'd have to check how they use the spellings there. Accent-wise, it certainly felt more american than british, but that's an asspull on my part, really. To be honest, though, regional spelling is kind of a secondary issue to just cleaning away all the gibberish, so no one should complain about how you choose to address that.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 18:51, April 2, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. DR 20:02, April 2, 2013 (UTC)

Edit War Edit

I have to kindly ask you to cease reverting edits made to the Phineas page. We have opened a discussion on the talk page, and more than one editor has come forward to state that they do not believe the blip about "Magic Negro" is significant to the article. Your opinion, while valid, is in the minority of editors. Perhaps your efforts would be better received in a blog post, where other Devil Hunters can engage in enlightened commenting, and not on the mainspace. Please do not continue your edit war. Consider this your first warning. -- Anobi (talk) 02:28, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

You fail to realize that the article you cite does not even mention Phineas. The only way one would know, from that article, that the "Magical Negro" refers to Phineas is if a) the reader already knows what the trope is and b) the reader is familiar with the characters of DmC. And as far as "original research" goes, the "references" you give do not once mention Devil May Cry; you are merely adding them to back up your personal assertions about the trope itself, NOT how it applies to Phineas or DmC. This qualifies as original research: to whit: "This includes any analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position not advanced by the sources." No, DMC Wiki is not a democracy, but nor is it a dictatorship. Your opinion does not override those of mine, Flia's, Steamy's, and Derekoe's combined, when we all believe that the article neither gains anything from adding the point, nor loses anything from not having the point. The article remains neutral with or without the Magical Negro bit, and those of us who have said we do not need it did NOT say "we just don't like it." As a wiki, it is not our responsibility to spread knowledge about the trope. We see no evidence that NT included this character specifically to illustrate the trope. We do not point out tropes of other characters on their respective pages. Now, please, stop being stubborn and insisting you are right. -- Anobi (talk) 03:02, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Screenshots and Hollows Edit

1. First of all, I´d like to thank you with your help with the screenshots. I also apologize in advance for going edit-happy with some images; I was too new in this (and honestly, still am) and thought a wiki wouldnt have that many rules (terrible mistake). I´ve been trying to fix my mistakes with the images (i.e. better quality, a description, different name, give it a category) but when I try to move an image (change the name like when you changed the "dante faces succubus" to "mission 06 01 DmC")  the edit sub-menu doesnt give me the option (as It should), so I´ve been unable to do it (It was MY mistake, therefore I feel bad when someone else (like you) is forced to fix them) do I need administration privileges? also I would like to know if I can remove the *betterpic* template to the images I´ve recently updated with better ones, or if they still have any flaw.

2. I would also like to know your opinion (I dont want to look over-dependent, you just seem to know a lot about editing, and I just dont want to make another mistake) If its a good idea to merge the Hollow Vergil page (or at least link it to the main article) along with the Hollow Dante and Hollow Kat pages (which even if they exist, Ironically are empty) Into one big "Hollows" page (in the same root of the "Damned Chessmen" or the "Seven Hells of the Demon Army" page) and If its a good idea, How should I do it? (or if there must be a discussion page about it) also, just "Hollows" as a name is pretty lame, how it should be named? either way, thank you for your help and advice.

(Xurono (talk) 06:25, April 8, 2013 (UTC))

For the betterpic images, we need screenshots taken directly from the game. If you don't have the equipment to do that, that's fine -- the betterpic template doesn't indicate anything about image deletions. They're just a notice that there's still room for improvement on the image. Don't let that discourage you though -- your work is really good!
For moving images, I use monobook, where it's just an option at the top (under "rename"). However, only admins can delete the original name of the image, so it's best to let them do movements unless it is necessary to leave behind a redirect. You can open a forum for images you want moved, and we'll do it for you.
For the Hollows...I'm not sure. Honestly, only Hollow Vergil is named, while the others, which are clearly the same thing, are just called "Dante" and "Kat". You know what could be a good idea, is if you want to contact the official DmC, NT, or other developer facebook/twitter pages, and ask if they have a name for these creatures. If they are meant to be the same species (rather than just manifestations of Hollow Vergil, which is a somewhat valid interpretation), then "Hollows" or "Hollow Souls" or whatever we end up deciding to call it should be fine, we would just need a discussion because this is a more tenuous issue.
Also, if you want to start articles for Hollow Dante and Hollow Kat, or get screenshots for them, that would be very much appreciated.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:35, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
thanks for the words of encouragement, it drives me to keep moving forward.
just to let you know, the images ive posted recently (the vergil DT artwork), and the updated (mission 06 01 DmC(succubus), mission VD 05 01(hollow vergil) and mission 20 01 DmC (dante stabbing vergil) in fact, ARE directly taken from the game (the others obviously are taken from my lame first attempt just using youtube and the prnt scrn ,thats why im fixing them). I take the shots while im doing my DMD run, using a tool called greenshot (in which I put the settings for the image in the highest quality available). my pc monitor is full HD (1920x1080) and the games settings are at its max. If that quality its just not enough or im doing something wrong, please let me know how to do it properly or enhance the image and ill do it right away. If the images look smaller when I upload them, is because they are humongously big after i take them (I invite you to see the full size image of the updated hollow vergil profile image, If you havent already, where I just cut the left and right borders) however if you need them in his original size, ill fix that too.
P.S. I was not kidding when I said the hollow dante and kat pages DO exist, but they are completely empty (funny irony, i think) ill upload images of them in a few days since im not home, but in the meantime those pages should be either be deleted or with different names, since as you put it, their names are not comfirmed to be those (yet again, you guys are the ones who take the shots).
(Xurono (talk) 06:25, April 8, 2013 (UTC))
If 1641x1073 is the natural resolution of the screenshots, then that's fine. I just thought it was an odd value and was hoping for something rounder. What exactly are you cutting when you upload these? Could you add an uncut shot of Hollow Vergil for comparison?
The Hollow Kat and Dante pages need to stay up marked as editors on this wiki have an unfortunate tendency to simply remove the links to uncreated pages instead of seeing them as requests for new articles, so placing a rudimentary stub template sends a clear message that we do need the page.
As long as you're doing a run through the game, do you think you could get full-size screenshots of the various concept art? I've started a gallery here, but I only have access to whatever images DMC Facebook released, or was uploaded by other users. If you are able to consistently get the HD, full-resolution images, that would be more than ideal!(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 05:20, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
Ok, ill do the concept art gallery and the (for now named) hollows, and the original resolution of the images is the fullscreen at full HD (1920x1080) I dont think its necessary to send the hollow image with that resolution. The only thing I did with that image was to cut the sides, (to make it less rectangular and more square shaped) yet, as I stated before, if you want the full size, ill do it, or tell me what did you mean with "something rounder" (did you meant more proportioned, like 1600x1050 or, say, 800x600? because if thats the case, ill just leave them at full screen resolution (INSANELY huge, to be honest), or tell me which size would you like, as i can resize them without cutting them.
However, you should know that the gallery images are literally impossible to upload without cutting, since theres an empty black space between the borders of the screen and the actual image when shown in the gallery, so most of them will have an "uneven" resolution. Other than that I´ll upload them the instant I´ll unlock them. (By the way, was that uneven resolution the reason my images have the betterpic template, or is there some other reason? its just I really want to correct all my mistakes, I really hate mediocre work.)
Other than that, I really appreciate all your help and I apologize if I bothered you. I´ll do the images and go asking around about the hollow thing, and let you know the moment I do.
(Xurono (talk) 06:25, April 8, 2013 (UTC))
Could you get me an example of the Vergil image at full resolution HD (can you go widescreen)? And one on the gallery which you feel must be cropped down? That will really help me to get a picture of what you're talking about.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 06:38, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
Hey i've uploaded a few images in the DmC CA gallery, in mission 20. they have what I told you about the "empty black spaces between the borders of the screen and the actual image"  and the cropped version just wouldnt have that empty space between. let me know if you want them cropped, and I'll do it. Also I uploaded the widescreen (1920x1080) version of the hollow vergil profile image (the exact same image, just uncropped at the sides), as an updated version of the same image file. you should go there and choose which version do you prefer.
(Xurono (talk) 23:20, April 9, 2013 (UTC))
The Vergil one definitely looks better in widescreen, thanks. As for the concept art, you're right, we need to crop out the blank black space, but let's keep any of the actual image, okay?
Other than that: there should be no issue with your images so long as you upload them at max resolution png (widescreen, HD, etc.), and crop out the blank space. Make sure to add image descriptions and, if possible, name them correctly, but I can do that for you if it gets confusing.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:04, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
How do you manage to name the files without they ending with underscores between the words? Id like to know to save you the time of correcting them. (Xurono (talk) 15:04, April 18, 2013 (UTC))

Game Guides DisplayEdit

Hello again, as you may or may not know recently Wikia has released a new version of our Game Guides application on both the Apple Store and the Google Play store. We are hoping to target our audiences even further and try to bring this app more to their attention. For this reason, we have created a template promoting our application that we would like to place on your site with your permission of course. The template can be seen here (it shows what it would look like on both a light themed and dark themed wiki). The template would live in the upper-right column of this wiki, right below the advertisement. Please get back to me if it's ok to go ahead and enable this on here. - Wagnike2 (talk) 14:18, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

The button template is just a simple switch parser; wikipedia has info on how to set up the coding for parser functions. Categories Edit

I'm a little confused about why you added the category "Demons" to the Nobody page. If we're trying to be specific with the categories to which pages belong, like we're doing with the weapons articles, why are we lumping Nobodies into the Demons supercategory, when they already belong to it by proxy of the "Devil May Cry X lesser demons" category? -- Anobi (talk) 01:47, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

Why are we nesting the minor enemy categories within the species categories? I guess if that's really what we want to do (seems awkward, especially for multi-game demons), then |nocat=* should be readded to that one (or I can add a different flag to turn off just the species).(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:00, June 14, 2013 (UTC)
My logic is because they're specifically called "lesser demons." And the "Game X lesser demons" categories are dual categorized as both "demons" and "enemies" so we don't have to add those categories to each individual page. -- Anobi (talk) 02:41, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Weapon attacks Edit

Hey, just wanted to touch base with you and see if I could understand why you want to separate all the weapon attacks into their own pages. Personally, I don't think we need a separate page for, say, "Charged Shot (Blue Rose)" and "Charged Shot (Shotgun)," or "Drive (DMC3)" and "Drive (DMC4)," or whatever you had in mind. We'd have a plethora of tiny articles if we did that, and they wouldn't really be appreciably different from each other. I'm not opposed to giving recurring attacks their own pages, such as High Time or the aformentioned Drive, but do we really need to break them down by specific weapon? And if an attack only appears for one weapon, do we really need a page for it, or even a redirect? I know you're big on making pages for everything that starts with a capital letter, but I think we're seriously going overboard with the blue links on a lot of our pages. -- Anobi (talk) 02:49, June 30, 2013 (UTC)

If it's really more trouble for the reader to have those blue links, it would be acceptable to remove them, but we do need redirects set up. A reader looking for info on any official term should be able to find it easily.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:17, June 30, 2013 (UTC)
I get the concept, but in practice, it does not seem practical to make disambiguation pages for every attack. Then again, if its something you really feel needs to be done, you can; I am simply stating my opinion, as many other gaming wikis do not do this. As to your other point, if an editor wants to direct a reader to a specific attack--Gilgamesh's Shock! for example--I don't consider a disambiguation page to be the best solution. True, piped links to movesets aren't the perfect answer, but it is my opinion that using a piped link directly to that weapon's page is better than using a roundabout method of directing them to a redirect. Or, since we generally have links directly to the weapon in question not far from the attack--"Gilgamesh's Shock!" for example--we and our readership may be better served by simply not linking the attack if it's going to redirect right back to the weapon page. -- Anobi (talk) 03:25, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
That's what I was saying. Just link the weapon. If the attack itself needs to be linked for some reason, it shouldn't be piped since we would have a link right to the correct technique.
Also: yes, a lot of gaming wikis don't do that. There's also not a lot of truly comprehensive gaming wikis, so we should be aiming to be better than the norm. Like Kingdom Hearts or Transformers Wiki, for example.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 03:29, July 3, 2013 (UTC)==Can I ?==

Can I change the picture for Dante (DmC).Spideyforeva (talk) 14:02, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

It's nice to have high goals, but I guess I just consider stuff like this to be over-building rather than improving by adding valuable content. I also don't personally think we have a large enough community or enough of a subject matter to support a project like this. But, hey, what do I care? -- Anobi (talk) 03:37, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

RE: Mission Images Edit

8 years old - source?Edit

Hi, Kryten. I know you hardly visit this place anymore, same as me, but recently I suddenly got stumbled on a bit of a problem and would like to know if you can help me with it.

See, I was rereading Dante's article, and it struck me: hey, where where does it say that he was eight years old when Eva gave him and his brother the amulets? I know there is this quote from DMC1:

(start of the flashback)
Eva: "Vergil, Dante, happy birthday."
Boy's voice 1: "Wow."
Boy's voice 2: "Cool! I want chocolate!"
Boy's voice 1: "No! I want the chocolate!"
(end of the flashback)

But, not only it is infuriatingly unspecific - you can render the meaning of this memory as:

  1. Something from right before the demon raid struck;
  2. Indeed, the day the Perfect Amulets were given, the "chocolates" in that case being the shiny pendants;
  3. Just a random happy memory; doesn't actually name any dates.

I did a small research on this, but found no evidence to support that this exact number, 8, is actually anything canon. I also asked a couple of people about it, but they were only able to reply with "I heard it SOMEWHERE, it must be true." At this point I am seriously starting to suspect that this info was inserted into the wiki, for some reason stuck here, and then spread out into the internets, but when I went back to check the history of the article I found that the one who first added this is you.

I wonder if you might remember the source then? My signature is NOT short! 15:14, March 28, 2014 (UTC)

You probably mean this quote:
Dante: "It’s been nearly a year since we last met. Where does the time go? No doubt you’ve got some fun planned for me. Right Vergil?"
It is commonly assumed that the one year ago means manga, although considering its unfinished state it is hard to say whether its events are canon or not. Anyway, no, no ten years.
As for manuals, I checked the transcripts, but didn't find anything.
I remember Anobi suggesting something might be in the novels, but I doubt it. I searched for "eight" in my electronic copy of Volume 1 and found nothing, and while I don't have Volume 2, I know it deals even less with Dante's background than 1 does.
P.S.: Also, found this.
Devil May Cry, Enemy File — Nelo Angelo: "The pendant that the Nelo Angelo wore was the same as Dante’s. It brings back faint memories of his youth."
Seems like the flashback ^ is indeed just a random happy memory to me. My signature is NOT short! 16:53, March 28, 2014 (UTC)
